I fell in love with Dimple and Rishi. The first book by Sandhya Menon opened the world to me into the beauty of the Indian community, of food and culture awareness. Now the sequel novel of this beautiful story focuses on Sweetie and Ashish.

A boy who is not as close to his family's tradition and a girl who is fat and doesn't conform to her mother's expectations. Despite that and through a series of hilarious moments, Indian food, culture festivals and lots of music, the two come close and develop feelings for each other. The plot was more character focused and didn't feel slow. I liked the pace and the attention Menon gives into the details of her characters and how the dynamics between parents and children work.

I enjoyed it very much and even if you haven't read the first book you'll love this one!

Be the Girl was a story that surprised me in many ways. From the characters and their complex emotions to the high school drama and above all, bullying. Not to mention Cassie, the sweet soul!

As a person has been a victim of bullying in middle school, I believe that there should be more awareness, especially now when technology offers more means to be a bully while staying anonymous and believing that nothing touches you. 
K.A. Tucker has written in a very realistic and emotional way about people who struggle every day, learn from their mistakes and grow up in the process; and also they find love and understanding. There should be more books like this one. Highly recommended.

Ah, the beauty of retellings! The Raven's ballad delivers a satisfying ending to angst, curses and creates new dynamics in this world I have grown so much fond of! I loved Bran and Aisling as they navigate through politics and curses, old powers and hidden enemies.

Not to mention that Emma Hamm has so much in store for her secondary characters! I so love also the mix between fairy tales and Irish mythology. They are combined SO WELL you don't find anything amiss! And the ending? Boy I would want a book about that baby too if the author gets the chance and write one!

Very entertaining and highly recommended!

I have finally crawled out of the hole I have hidden in, so I am going to try and write logic, comprehend thoughts about the sequel to "The Wicked King".

*throws logic out of the window*

THE TITLE COULDN'T BE MORE FITTING!

Three months have passed since Jude became the ruler behind the king. As Cardan spends his days drinking and...plotting(?), Jude tries to navigate the politics of the courts, the rising enemies all the while Madoc, Locke, and new enemies arise again.

There is too much tension here which can't be described for the sake of spoilers but there is no moment when you can't stop wondering what will happen. Jude is a very skilled fighter, but even her wits can't be enough for what is in store for her.

I swear the fandom is going to be nuts trying to peel away the layers of plans, politics, and ALL THAT F*RY THAT HAPPENED IN THIS BOOK!

I did like a specific chapter between Cardan and Jude and while the final chapters did take a small part of my soul with them, I can't help but wonder if everything was very well orchestrated by a specific someone. On the other hand, and I am holding here all the Greek and English curses I know, I DIDN'T TRUST TARRYN! NOT EVEN FOR A SECOND! THAT IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF A POISONOUS RELATIONSHIP! CAN SOMEONE KILL HER ALREADY?!

WTF, AND I MEAN WTF IS WRONG WITH HER????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*ahem*

The ending was very brutal, which while at the same time doesn't look like a cliffhanger it can easily be one because it's abrupt and you are left wondering what will happen from now on. Also, I did notice that in the epilogue Jude is watching "Yuri on Ice"! So...that was a bonus?! ;)

I am going now to drool over fanart and wonder why Cardan could be so stupid. Unless the High King has a different endgame, but we'll see in the next book.

This story was a mystery from page one. Cobain and Molly and their not-so-honest relationship were mindblowing in ways I didn't anticipate. I honestly didn't know the truth as I read two POVs moving from past to present but weaving masterfully a web of secrets, lies, and romance. Victoria Scott knows how to keep you trapped in the insecurities of her characters, how they try to weave through the mysteries and comes out stronger despite how damaged they become.

A very good and highly anticipated book!

The following stand-alone novel by Jessica Leake takes us from the North and the Celts to The Rus Kiev and the tales and folklore of Russia! Partly inspired by the Firebird, part featuring creatures of the woods and the Snow Queen this new story will be an enjoyable one!

Katya fears the power she has and when the Prince of Kiev sends for her, she fears death. But political plots and alliances will create a new dynamic between the involved characters, making the story even more interesting.

The only downside at least for me was the pacing. It felt very slow at first and suddenly it moved very fast. But overall, this is a wonderful read.

She wrote and wrote until she got her first book published, and then she wrote some more. Ah the beauty of reading a book inspired by mythology! The story of Eros and Psyche has transcended time and is known as one of the few stories where a god and a human do actually have a happy ending. Inspired by the Latin work which chronicles the trials of Psyche after she falls in love with Eros, son of Aphrodite, Wendy Higgins delivers a stand-alone Adult book filled with emotion, the different aspects of human nature and godly jealousy. The author also mentions that because she is inspired by the Latin work Eros here he has his Latin name, Cupid.

If you are familiar with the myth then you'll pretty much expect the story to be similar to the one you have read. If not then the book is fresh in details, rich world-building and also it takes place somewhere in the Roman times.

Psyche is the third daughter of a Greek king of an island. Born with exceptional beauty and while she loves her family dearly she longs to find love in someone who will not love for only for her appearance but for the person she really is. She is not vain; on the contrary, she thinks her beauty a curse. And when a prophecy comes after the slow decay of her island, she will be wed into a winged monster and sent to live in a magical mansion with him.

I'm trying not to spoil anything here! (the historian in me longs to spoil instead)

What I noticed in the book was also the consequences the human actions had in relation to the gods. And that's something you don't clearly see in the original myth. Because Psyche is so pretty her parents refer to her 'as beautiful as a goddess'. That my friends is hubris and hubris always has bad outcomes. And the best part? Psyche is the one to bitch-slap, metaphorically, her parents into going back to their offerings towards the gods. Few mortals committed hubris and lived to tell the tale.

The story is steady, with action and emotional development for all characters and since this book is NOT a YA, expect the steamy scenes *fans herself*. Plus many consider the myth to be the predecessor to Beauty and the Beast so double the joy!

The ending was sweet and satisfactory. Wendy Higgins outdoes herself with this amazing book! I haven't felt the same since the ending of her "Sweet Evil" series or her "Undone" series! If you are a lover of mythology then this is the book for you!

The new series by Amy Ewing begins with a city on the sky and four different POVs which slowly add to the plot. From the City Above the Sky to the ground of Earth we see how magic, science and different roles combine as the characters try to find their own path and grow up.

The pros go to the beautiful descriptions of the City and the magic of cloudspinning. It sounded beautiful. But despite the gorgeous cover and the beauty of the premise, there wasn't much development to the plot and Leo was the one character I didn't like. Also with four POVs the action didn't feel balanced enough. It might be an issue of my own but don't let this be your main factor. And also for a City of high Intelligence and magic, learning from the start that they had only oral stories and NOTHING WRITTEN was a dead giveaway to the sinister path behind its glittering visage.

ARC Reviews: 6 Harlequin mangas

The NetGalley gods had been quite surprising for me in 2018. I got to read some very interesting books and on the other hand, I know the hardship of requesting ARCs while being an INT blogger. Just before New Year's Eve I got a big approval on the following Harlequin manga. I admit that I've never read that many in one day but the stories were interesting, albeit a tiny bit predictable.

The Boss and the Beauty: 4 stars

The art of Earithen is known to me through the adaptation of Lords of the Underworld books by Gena Showalter. The Boss and the Beauty held a good plot with comedy and an 'extreme make-over' story which felt well made and had its own HEA. And although Cindy's friends felt a little too snappy for my taste, they did push the heroine towards change.

Terms of Engagement: 3 stars

I searched GoodReads for this title in order to link it but I couldn't find it. The story here has the pattern of the sudden inheritance and all the drama and gossip that follows. The story felt a little too predictable for me but the art of the ranch was great and I enjoyed the growing attraction between Emma and Frazer.

Jessica is a matchmaker, sent to the small kingdom in an island of Greece, in order to choose a bride for the heir of the throne Stavros. For the record, I am Greek and I was always surprised by how many fellow readers love the trope of the Greek prince who falls for the simple heroine. We do have a royal family, but since the country is a democracy, the royal pair is considered to be "the ex-royals". I have to admit that I loved this one. Jessica had a great style with her vintage dresses. Stavros was an emotional character, not your usual style of the aloof and too serious for his own good man. And I'm pretty sure that this 'kingdom in Greece' is Mykonos but with the island's letters reversed! LOL

Heartless Abduction: 3 stars

To be honest, I considered of rating this one with two stars but, there was a saving grace. I didn't enjoy the story. Romance built on a supposed abduction I not my favorite trope. But there is a good resolution in the struggle and they do get their own HEA. They almost fall in lust with each other but Nella doesn't take advantage of the situation in order to make Raul believe her. She does something daring though.

The Ultimate Seduction: 4 stars

Tiffany has suffered through an accident which left her burnt and scarred. A fling with a man named Ryzard will lead them into a very well made relationship, full of hardship and growth. This was far more completed story. With a good structure and well-made points through the manga about the characters' emotional world, along with Tiffany's growth as a character.

The Dangerous Jacob Wilde: 4 stars

Addison has spent her life working. When her deceased boss gives to her as an inheritance a ranch in Texas, she will take the leap of faith in order to try something new. Jacob has returned from the battlefield. Emotionally scarred he tries to fit back into a life that feels too foreign for him.
While the beginning of the book felt a little cliche, the progress of the story with the characters' struggles, Jacob's PTSD and Addison's need for family, made this manga enjoyable. I found out that the rest of the brothers have their own mangas so I might try reading those next.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2019 will be a much, much better and safer year than the previous one with love and peace. And maybe more books and amazing events in the blogsphere!

January 2nd marked the day when back on 2014 I made my very first steps into the blogging world! I had just finished reading Beth Revis's series "Across the Universe" and Veronica Rossi's "Under the Never Sky" series and I wanted to write so many things about the books. I joined GoodReads and from there began my descent to adding the overgrowing TBR list and also making reading challenges almost impossible to win!

A surprise release by my favorite author right before New Year's! I love Karina's writing especially how she can craft characters that stay with you and you get to have both the swoon, the romance, and the humor!

Set in Hawaii, which I seriously want to visit, the story follows Nova and Kessler as they try to reconnect with each other while at the same time they vie for the same position at work. Add in a murderous chicken, geckos and the beautiful scenery and you have the best story!
