About WANDERLUST (Coming 2/6/2018):

They say Paris is always a good idea...

You know what I say? Paris would be a much better idea if I spoke the dang language. I can't even board the metro to visit the Louvre without ending up at the Moulin Rouge, and let's not even mention how I'll ever make it through a day at my new office.

Fortunately my company hooks me up with my own personal translator. Ooh la la. Or should I say bloody hell? Because he's charming, witty, and British, and he brings the city to life for me. Soon, I can order a croque monsieur hold the ham, discuss perfume with my co-workers, and barter at the outdoor market. I can also tell the sexy Brit by my side how much I want him to kiss me under the streetlamps.

Except there's a catch - Paris might be all we have.

***

One more assignment before I can take off on my big adventure...

And it's a good farewell gig too since my newest client is a fetching American who loves to explore the cafes and cobbled streets while I teach her the language of love. We fall into a fast and flirty friendship, but Paris has a way of making lovers out of friends, and soon we're spending our nights together too - très risqué. The trouble is, my wanderlust is calling to me, and soon I'll be traveling the globe to fulfill a promise I made long ago.

What could possibly go wrong with falling in love in Paris? Nothing...unless one of you is leaving.

He’s let a lot of people down lately, including his daughter. Sutton always promised his little girl he would never disappoint her and that he would always be there when she needed him. Until he wasn’t.

The truth is, he’s used to disappointing the women in his life. First was his mother who couldn’t find a reason to stick around when he was growing up. Then there’s his ex. The woman who takes unbridled delight in making his life incredibly complicated. Luckily, his daughter is still young enough to believe her old man is some kind of hero. But, he knows the day is coming when she realizes the truth, that he’s just a man with some serious flaws and a list of ever-growing weaknesses.

Finally, there’s the woman he’s desperately trying to forget with every shot tossed back and each pill popped.

He more than disappointed Emrys…he almost got her killed.

Her love is steady and sure. It’s a shelter shaped by conviction and silent assurance.

Emrys Santos is lost. Everything in her life feels pointless and futile.

She’s been busy running away from her feelings and all the people who love her the most—including her best friend, the one person who knows exactly what she’s been through. They promised to always stick together and to lean on one another. It was a promise Em had to break so she could lick her wounds and figure out her next move. For once, there is no easy way out of the tangled web of emotions she’s caught up in, and right now, she recognizes that all roads lead back to Wyoming…and back to Sutton.

The man she nearly got killed.

Shelter is a standalone novel, the second book in the Getaway series, which features the hardheaded and brokenhearted Warner brothers and the women who dare to love them. These boys are very good at putting the wild in wilderness.

About ESCAPE (Coming 1/30/18):

Everything inside of him is screaming that he needs to run, he needs to go, he needs to escape.

Lane Warner is used to being overshadowed and overlooked.

After all, he’s the youngest brother and the most laid back one in the family. He’s the one known for going with the flow and not making waves, even when things seem to be at their worst.

Very few things in life have had the ability to rile Lane up and get under his skin. At the top of that list is his childhood friend Brynn Fox…no…Brynn Warner. The fact that they share a last name was the one thing that has the power to light him up and spin him out of control like no other. There was no calm, cool and collected when it comes to all the reasons why Brynn had to become part of his family.

It’s slowly killing him to keep wanting what he can’t have, so Lane sees only one way to stop himself from doing something they’ll both regret…he has to leave.

Everything inside of her is calling out to find him, to follow, to bring him home.

Brynn Warner is used to being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

After all, she’s the daughter of an unrepentant gold-digger who never once blinked at being the cause of her daughter’s pain and suffering.

Very few things in her life have ever brought happiness and a sense of security. At the very top of that list is Lane Warner. She has unwaveringly loved the youngest Warner since the first minute she laid eyes on him. He was everything Brynn ever wanted and everything she knew she could never have.

Sometimes the right choice is the one that hurts the most and Brynn’s had to make a few that felt like they might be the end of her.

When Lane takes off, one thing is clear, the only choice Brynn has is to go after him.

She’s going to bring her wayward cowboy home….whatever it takes.

Escape is a standalone novel, the third book in the Getaway series, which features the hardheaded and brokenhearted Warner brothers and the women who dare to love them. These boys are very good at putting the wild in wilderness.

Double ARC Reviews: "Conduit" (The Infinity Series, #1) by C.C. Dowling & "Brave" (A Wicked Saga #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Conduit by C.C. Dowling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

When college senior Jane Lamb dies suddenly, she discovers that the afterlife is less pearly gates and fluffy clouds and more standing in line at the DMV. But before she can spend eternity lamenting over her short, unremarkable life, she’s offered a do-over—as a Conduit, a reincarnated messenger contracted to reap souls.

Determined to do things right the second time, Jane takes the job and reincarnates as eighteen-year-old college freshman Liv Hartley. Only, the excitement for her new life doesn’t last. There are consequences to bearing the coveted infinity symbol tattoo marking her as a Conduit, and Liv quickly finds that getting a second chance doesn’t mean getting a better one. Possessive demons, stolen assignments, and a love life that’s decidedly complicated are all a far cry from the mundane existence Jane led. But with more questions piling up than bodies, there’s only one thing Liv knows for sure: life doesn’t get any easier after death.

Filled with sparkling wit, conflicted romance, and more spirit than a haunted mansion, Conduit is a fun-filled paranormal that explores the idea of regret, love, and what we would give to live twice.

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book was one of the hidden gems I had the luck to read in 2017! A New Adult book about life and death, choices and college life! When Jane dies and discovers that the afterlife is not so fun and angel wings, she grasps the chance to be reincarnated...and work for the Numeri named Marv.

She is now 18 years old, a freshman and also she begins falling for the sexy David. And while she has a competitor for the job, Asher, Jane (now Liv) discovers that there are far worse consequences than she ever imagined.

I liked the book, it was a mix of humor and too much emotion. Liv is a strong character who knows some things and tries to escape others. And while she tries to hide her secrets as a Conduit, she manages to bring along her own problems, insecurities and fears.

While the last part of the book was heart-breaking and the ending felt a lot like a cliff-hanger, I really want to see what will happen to Asher. Because he knows more than he shows and I'm pretty sure he loves Liv.

Recommended also for its amazing cover!

Ivy Morgan hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.

It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine... and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.

Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life-altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far-reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart. If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies. REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

What an ending! I never expected to see this series ending so soon, because...well I wanted more! More Tink, more Ren and more Ivy!

So let's begin: Ivy suffers from PTSD and honestly I think that she and Feyre would be best buddies. It is hard and emotionally draining and that led Ivy to some bad decisions, which in turn turned Ren to also make some life-altering decisions.

The evil Fae are gathering together and help will be needed in order to put the Prince back to the Otherworld. Add in a sexy new Prince, Tink swooning and being amazing and lots of sass and funny moments and you're in for a good adventure!

I won't tell spoilers but truly a scene with Tink towards the ending was simply hilarious! I really can't wait to see how PassionFlix will make those characters come to life! Plus, there will be a novella too!

And if there will be any spin-off series about Ivy and Ren, I'd definitely read it!

And don't miss the other two books of the series!

Top 10 Tuesday: Ten Book Characters Who Would Make Great Leaders

This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week’s topic is Top Ten Tuesday #126: Ten characters that would make great leaders! This list will contain mostly characters from books and not TV. So I'm going to rave mostly about them. ;)

10: Laia and Elias: This series has a gorgeous setting in a world resembling the Roman empire but with an Anatolian twist. I'm sure that these two would be amazing in combing the different cultures and their beliefs.

9: Lia and Rafe: What can I say? I love this pair of this spectacular series! And I truly can't wait for the next one!

8: Wilhelmina: A queen who has lived as a commoner and knows the hard trials of life. Also, she is strong and funny.

7: Thomas Cresswell: I mean he would make a classy leader, with Audrey Rose of course! I can't help but adore his sass and humor!

6: Arin and Kestrel: I truly couldn't miss adding these two! A series that broke and remade my heart, I just couldn't stop remembering everything!

5: Vhalla and Aldrik: A wonderful pair with tested strength and the will to overcome difficulties.

4: Nikolai: And that's why I point to the second book of the series! Also, knowing that he will get his own book series makes me even giddier! As for the Six of Crows series, I don't know if I'd want Kaz as a president/leader. Maybe Inej?

3: Elisa: My beautiful queen with powers, a love for sweets and also she has won the record for having the most handsome royal guard! ;)

2: Forsyth and Pip: I don't know, these two would be truly fantastic! Both are strong, Pip is a supporter of equality in every single social issue and Forsyth is a spymaster!

1: Almost everyone? I don't know from where to begin! But if Rhysand could make a world like Velaris, I'd vote him till the end of my mortal days!

Review: "An Enchantment of Ravens" by Margaret Rogerson

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

A skilled painter must stand up to the ancient power of the faerie courts—even as she falls in love with a faerie prince—in this gorgeous debut novel.

Isobel is a prodigy portrait artist with a dangerous set of clients: the sinister fair folk, immortal creatures who cannot bake bread, weave cloth, or put a pen to paper without crumbling to dust. They crave human Craft with a terrible thirst, and Isobel’s paintings are highly prized. But when she receives her first royal patron—Rook, the autumn prince—she makes a terrible mistake. She paints mortal sorrow in his eyes—a weakness that could cost him his life.

Furious and devastated, Rook spirits her away to the autumnlands to stand trial for her crime. Waylaid by the Wild Hunt’s ghostly hounds, the tainted influence of the Alder King, and hideous monsters risen from barrow mounds, Isobel and Rook depend on one another for survival. Their alliance blossoms into trust, then love—and that love violates the fair folks’ ruthless laws. Now both of their lives are forfeit, unless Isobel can use her skill as an artist to fight the fairy courts. Because secretly, her Craft represents a threat the fair folk have never faced in all the millennia of their unchanging lives: for the first time, her portraits have the power to make them feel.

REVIEW

One of the best and most anticipated books of September was also "An Enchantment of Ravens". September had truly too many amazing books to count, so I'll keep my raving short.
This book is the debut novel by Margaret Rogerson and it follows Isobel, a young and talented artist who makes portraits for the Fae.
When Rook, the Autumn Prince arrives at her cottage asking for a portrait of himself, an adventure will begin.

I enjoyed Isobel; she is smart, practical and she is not swayed by the sugar-coated life of the Fae and its immortality. Her town is in the between of the Fae and the Human world (where there is no magic) and every villager wants to impress the Fae with their Craft. Be it clothes, paintings or any other kind of craftsmanship.

Rook was simply amazing! When I first read the blurb, I thought that Rook was the parallel Lucien from the ACOTAR series, but when I saw him through Isobel's eyes, I realised that he had suffered far more than he truly let on. He was also very funny in his way, trying to understand Isobel and also very brave.

The ending of the book left me with a serious question as to the protagonists future. I truly loved it, I really did, but still, I can't help but feel this nagging fear that I'll have a Tessa-Will life or an Alec-Magnus one...

About the author:

Margaret writes fantasy for young adult readers. Her books draw inspiration from old fairy tales, because she loves stories in which the beautiful and the unsettling are sometimes indistinguishable. She lives near Cincinnati, Ohio, and when she's not reading or writing she enjoys drawing, watching documentaries, making pudding, gaming, and exploring the outdoors in search of toads and mushrooms.

ARC Review Blitz+Excerpt: "Miss Fix It" by Emma Hart

One handywoman.

One single dad.

One set of twins.

And the wall isn’t the only thing being drilled…

I learned the hard way that being a handywoman isn’t easy. The questions, the stares—the assumption I’m the proud owner of a cock and balls. Not that it matters. I’ve proven over and over that I’m ready for anything the judgmental asses throw at me.

Except the hot, single dad of twins who just moved to town.

Brantley Cooper gets the shock of his life when I show up on his doorstep to fix up his kids’ new rooms. His son is confused why ‘the pretty lady has a drill,’ and his daughter has a new obsession—me.

On paper, my job is easy. Go in, do their bedrooms, and leave.

In theory, I’m spending eight hours a day with a guarded, sexy as hell guy, and I’m staying for dinner more often than I’m eating it alone, on my couch, with Friends re-runs.

I shouldn’t be staying for dinner. I shouldn’t be helping him out with the twins. I shouldn’t be falling in love with tiny toes and dimpled cheeks.

And I most definitely should not be kissing my client.

Oops…

EXCERPT

“Deal with it,” I echoed, my mouth dry.
“What exactly do you mean by that?”
He glanced at my mouth.
“Okay, but, um, here’s the thing.” I couldn’t breathe. I sounded like a panting idiot trying to get the words out between each short, sharp breath I took.
“This,” I motioned between us, “is bad.”
“Bad.” His lips tugged to the side.
“Yes. Because,”—help. Someone help—“because this isn’t allowed. Company rules. No cavorting with clients.”
“No cavorting with clients.” That half-smile turned into a full-blown grin. “That’s very…proper.” “Well, I can’t exactly put, “No sleeping with the clients” now, can I?”
“You could have, but it would have been unfortunately precise.”
“I should change that.”
“I disagree.” I licked my lips.
“You should agree. Because this is—”
“Bad. You said.” More lip twitching. “I thought you were sorry you made it awkward by kissing me.” “That was before I found out you were attracted to me. Now, I’m a lot less sorry I kissed you.”
Oh. Well. Fair enough.
“Should I take back my acceptance of your apology?” I asked.
“You should stop talking and see how you feel when I’ve kissed you again.”

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was the very first book I read by Emma Hart and I enjoyed it very much! Kali, is a hard-working woman who works as a repair builder and restorator. Brantley has two sweet and funny kids, Ellie, and Eli, who have many antics through the book.

The chemistry between Kali and Brantley is amazing and many times I laughed! And while in some cases Kali seemed a little silly for her age, she was actually an amazing character! She also had to deal with the prejudice of being a woman who works in a man-dominating field. For my first book by Emma Hart I couldn't have asked for a better one!
