Conduit by C.C. Dowling

Summary from GoodReads
When college senior Jane Lamb dies suddenly, she discovers that the afterlife is less pearly gates and fluffy clouds and more standing in line at the DMV. But before she can spend eternity lamenting over her short, unremarkable life, she’s offered a do-over—as a Conduit, a reincarnated messenger contracted to reap souls.
Determined to do things right the second time, Jane takes the job and reincarnates as eighteen-year-old college freshman Liv Hartley. Only, the excitement for her new life doesn’t last. There are consequences to bearing the coveted infinity symbol tattoo marking her as a Conduit, and Liv quickly finds that getting a second chance doesn’t mean getting a better one. Possessive demons, stolen assignments, and a love life that’s decidedly complicated are all a far cry from the mundane existence Jane led. But with more questions piling up than bodies, there’s only one thing Liv knows for sure: life doesn’t get any easier after death.
Filled with sparkling wit, conflicted romance, and more spirit than a haunted mansion, Conduit is a fun-filled paranormal that explores the idea of regret, love, and what we would give to live twice.

REVIEW
I received an e-ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book was one of the hidden gems I had the luck to read in 2017! A New Adult book about life and death, choices and college life! When Jane dies and discovers that the afterlife is not so fun and angel wings, she grasps the chance to be reincarnated...and work for the Numeri named Marv.
She is now 18 years old, a freshman and also she begins falling for the sexy David. And while she has a competitor for the job, Asher, Jane (now Liv) discovers that there are far worse consequences than she ever imagined.
I liked the book, it was a mix of humor and too much emotion. Liv is a strong character who knows some things and tries to escape others. And while she tries to hide her secrets as a Conduit, she manages to bring along her own problems, insecurities and fears.
While the last part of the book was heart-breaking and the ending felt a lot like a cliff-hanger, I really want to see what will happen to Asher. Because he knows more than he shows and I'm pretty sure he loves Liv.
Recommended also for its amazing cover!
About the author:
C.C. Dowling is an author who writes everything from gritty urban fantasy, to paranormal sci-fi, to steamy contemporary erotic romance (under a pen name of course!).
C.C. shares her love of writing with her love of singing, music, and science. She spent the first half of her college life performing, and the second half in a lab.
C.C. currently lives in America’s finest city, with her husband (the financial shaman), her two children (who love to play in the yard with the faeries), and her very real pet dragon (who guards the perimeter of her house at night).
When she’s not working or writing (which is still technically working), C.C. can be found playing a round of disc golf, or desperately trying to figure out which pair of sandals are the most appropriate for the harsh Southern California winters.

Ivy Morgan hasn't been feeling like herself lately. Not like anyone can blame her. After all, being held captive by a psychotic fae prince hell-bent on permanently opening the gates to the Otherworld is bound to leave some mental scars.
It’s more than that, though. Something dark and insidious is spreading throughout Ivy, more powerful than she could ever imagine... and it’s coming between her and the man she’s fallen deeply in love with, elite Order member Ren Owens.
Ren would do anything to keep Ivy safe. Anything. But when he makes a life-altering choice for her, the fallout of his act has far-reaching consequences that threaten to tear their lives apart. If Ivy is going to have any hope of surviving this, she must put aside the hurt and betrayal she feels, and work with not only those she loves, but with an enemy she would rather kill than ever trust. War is coming, and it soon becomes clear that what Ivy and Ren thought they knew about the Order, themselves, and even their enemies, has been nothing but a cluster of dangerous, deadly lies. Ivy knows she must be more than just brave to save those she loves--and, ultimately, to save herself.
Because behind ever evil fae Prince, there’s a Queen…

REVIEW

What an ending! I never expected to see this series ending so soon, because...well I wanted more! More Tink, more Ren and more Ivy!
So let's begin: Ivy suffers from PTSD and honestly I think that she and Feyre would be best buddies. It is hard and emotionally draining and that led Ivy to some bad decisions, which in turn turned Ren to also make some life-altering decisions.
The evil Fae are gathering together and help will be needed in order to put the Prince back to the Otherworld. Add in a sexy new Prince, Tink swooning and being amazing and lots of sass and funny moments and you're in for a good adventure!
I won't tell spoilers but truly a scene with Tink towards the ending was simply hilarious! I really can't wait to see how PassionFlix will make those characters come to life! Plus, there will be a novella too!
And if there will be any spin-off series about Ivy and Ren, I'd definitely read it!
And don't miss the other two books of the series!
