Born of Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes the thrilling conclusion to her beloved Flesh and Fire series…

The line between love and obsession has never been wider.

While Sera is finally free of Kolis and back with those she loves, not everything is calm. Memories of all she’s endured still haunt her, but Sera finally has hope for a future with the other half of her heart and soul. Nyktos desires, loves, and accepts every part of her—even the monstrous bits she still battles.

More than ever, Sera and Ash have everything under the realms to fight for, and Nyktos has no doubt Sera is fit to be the Queen of the Gods. But she must find that faith within herself if they hope to convince the other Courts to support them against Kolis and make Iliseeum and the mortal realm better, safer places for all.

But as Sera begins to piece together the importance of her bloodline and the true meaning behind the foreboding prophecy, it becomes clear that everything that has happened and is yet to come is much bigger than Kolis and his dark obsessions.

They cannot help but wonder exactly how much influence the Fates have had and what their ultimate goal is. What Sera does know for sure is that they can trust very few—including her.

A battle between the gods is brewing, and heartbreaking losses are imminent with the true Primal of Death strengthening. With a family of the heart willing to battle by their side, can Sera and Nyktos stop Kolis before he destroys the realms, or will it all disappear in a fiery inferno of blood and ash?

And the line between justice and vengeance has never been so thin.

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Minor spoilers from the previous books will follow. You have been warned.

Oh boy, how do we move on from this book? In fact, Jennifer has managed to create a cosmos filled with characters, who are flawed and beautiful and they grip you from the start. In BOBAA, the final book of the prequel series, we find Sera, Nyktos, and allies trying to rally their power against Kolis as time passes and the realms' existence is at stake.

In this Sera has to deal with her trauma from her captivity and also learn to tame or somehow control her Powers as Primal of Life. The book is huge. 700 something pages in a kindle and in it we see amazing character development, spectacular fighting scenes and lots of Daddy Nyktos being the murderous husband we want.

But the part that connected the threads was the prophecy. It is given full now and it connects to what we expect to see in the final book of Poppy's POV. The possibilities of what may happen even imagining feel scary.

I enjoyed any scene that had to do with Reaver and Jadis. Those two as children are so cute I would protect them till the end of time.

I liked Attes too. I was sad to see how his own feelings were conflicted but his banter with Nyktos was a refreshing sight.

Kolis was a d*k so we move on.

Callum though? Now him I want to find a way to destroy him after what he did. And especially what is revealed at the end. Plus the masterminds behind everything is a terrifying aspect to consider.

Overall this was an amazing ending to yet another book by my favorite author and I can not wait for you to read it staring tomorrow!
