3 ARC Reviews: "Say You Still Love Me" by K.A. Tucker, "Failed Future" (Air Awakens: Vortex Chronicles #3) by Elise Kova & "Shadow Frost" by Coco Ma

Say You Still Love Me by K.A. Tucker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

Life is a mixed bag for Piper Calloway.

On the one hand, she’s a twenty-nine-year-old VP at her dad’s multibillion-dollar real estate development firm, and living the high single life with her two best friends in a swanky downtown penthouse. On the other hand, she’s considered a pair of sexy legs in a male-dominated world and constantly has to prove her worth. Plus, she’s stuck seeing her narcissistic ex-fiancé—a fellow VP—on the other side of her glass office wall every day.

Things get exponentially more complicated for Piper when she runs into Kyle Miller—the handsome new security guard at Calloway Group Industries, and coincidentally the first love of her life.

The guy she hasn’t seen or heard from since they were summer camp counsellors together. The guy from the wrong side of the tracks. The guy who apparently doesn’t even remember her name.

Piper may be a high-powered businesswoman now, but she soon realizes that her schoolgirl crush is not only alive but stronger than ever, and crippling her concentration. What’s more, despite Kyle’s distant attitude, she’s convinced their reunion isn’t at all coincidental, and that his feelings for her still run deep. And she’s determined to make him admit to them, no matter the consequences.

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I know that K.A. Tucker loves me; she writes books that make me laugh, swoon and ugly cry. As someone who has also gone to a summer camp several times over my teens, I loved this particular story with all its pains and emotions and love. So much love to be found in this book! Piper and Kyle are amazing both in the flashback chapters and as adults. I liked Kyle; he is a man who has deep emotions and he shows it too while Piper is hard-core but with a soft marshmallow heart.

The story has some surprises; those were the ones who made me ugly cry.
A book written by K.A. Tucker has never failed me and you are going to enjoy it too!

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The third book of the series filled me with dread. Elise Kova is a master on creating worlds you want to explore and yet fear page after page for the characters' lives. I can't spoil much and I can only say that Vi and Taavin have a growing relationship and yet when I reached the end and REALIZED WHAT THE TRUTH WAS I cried and gasped. Elise had also said that she had the plot in her mind even from the beginning of Air Awakens so I can understand where the next book will move into.

Still, I dread to see how the series will end.
And there's no feeling of losing interest in the future!

About the author:

Elise Kova is the USA Today bestselling author of fantasy stories filled with magic and romance.

In her past lives, she has graduated from an MBA program, lived in Japan for a bit, and worked for a Fortune 500 technology company. However, she finds herself much happier in her current reincarnation as full-time author. When not writing, she can usually be found playing video games, drawing, watching anime, or talking with readers on social media. She's happy to call Saint Petersburg, Florida, her home, but is always looking forward to her next trip.

Her debut series was Air Awakens. Since then she's penned the dark fantasy, the Loom Saga. As well as a co-authored paranormal romance, the Wish Quartet.

Shadow Frost by Coco Ma
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

In the kingdom of Axaria, a darkness rises.
Some call it a monster, laying waste to the villagers and their homes.
Some say it is an invulnerable demon summoned from the deepest abysses of the Immortal Realm.
Many soldiers from the royal guard are sent out to hunt it down.
Not one has ever returned.

When Asterin Faelenhart, princess of Axaria and heir to the throne, discovers that she may hold the key to defeating the mysterious demon terrorizing her kingdom, she vows not to rest until the beast is slain. With the help of her friends and the powers she wields—though has yet to fully understand—Asterin sets out to complete a single task. The task that countless trained soldiers have failed. To kill it.

But as they hunt for the demon, they unearth a plot to assassinate the princess herself instead. Asterin and her friends begin to wonder how much of their lives has been lies, especially when they realize that the center of the web of deceit might very well be themselves. With no one else to turn to, they are forced to decide just how much they are willing to sacrifice to protect the only world they have ever known.

That is, of course, if the demon doesn’t get to them first.

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

It's been a while since I read a YA fantasy with such a BADASS princess! Asterin is amazing as also her gang, both human and....ahem...not quite; Luna, Rose, Orion, Quinlan, Eadric, Harry, the horses which seem to have a mind of their own, Amoux (the sword).

The villain on the book seemed to give Darkling vibes for me and yet Asterin defied Mother and society to fight ith her magic and save her kingdom. This was a really good read and you are going to enjoy it if you prefer something fast-paced and highly entertaining.
