Wicked (A Wicked Saga, #1)Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

 REVIEW

Unforgettable scenes, funyy, witty, sexy dialogues, Jennifer manages to create yet another novel with unforgettable characters.

Into the lush scenery of New Orleans, Ivy fights for humanity's protection. With a heavy past to bear, and threats on her future she meets Ren, who also carries secrets of his own.

Well, of course we get to have swoon worthy moments of the two as also the best side character in all of Jennifer's works. Tink, as he is called gets to offer a tone of laughter in the whole novel and I hope to see more scenes with him in the next novel.

Ivy also as a character loves anything that has to do with "Supernatural" and she doesn't miss the references. Her relationship with Ren develops in the span of a month but it is not insta-love. I really appreciate that into a novel.

As for the ending of the book, it's a cliffhanger, really, really a cliffhanger, where you will not know the reactions or even guess if Ivy will be alive or even safe.

A must read, I highly recommend it!

  Inspire

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | iTunes | Kobo

About INSPIRE:

Kalliope lives with one purpose. To inspire. As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.

Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal. Her presence may inspire genius.

 But it breeds madness, too.

  Inspire Teaser 3

                                             Excerpt:

I can feel Wilder’s breath against my lips. More than that, I can see it. The sun has set and the temperature has dropped, and air fogs between us. There’s something about actually seeing it, like our lips are touching, we are touching, despite the distance between. And as we sway from side to side, my heart gradually begins to pick up speed. The strains of guitar music flowing out from the restaurant are nearly indecipherable over the heavy heartbeat in my ears. But Wilder must hear it. His hands are strong on my body, guiding my movements, and I’m practically clay in his palms. We dance, eyes on eyes, lips nearly on lips, and there is lightning beneath my skin each time his body brushes against mine in a new way. His touch is firm, but gentle, never pushing or pressuring, though I can tell from the dark look in his eyes that he’s just as affected as I am. The music shifts, building to a crescendo, and he spins us. My chest pushes tight against his, and I bite back a gasp. I don’t know if it’s the cold or him or some combination of both, but the tips of my breasts are painfully tight. Just the pressure of my bra is enough to rub them raw. I remember the night at his apartment, the way he’d taken his time learning my body. I think of the heat of his mouth on my skin, and the memory alone is enough to make me shiver and clench. He’s back to being business, grown-up Wilder tonight in his button down and glasses. Only now that I know him, it doesn’t seem like such a stark difference. He is neither the straight-laced man nor the tattooed bad boy. Or perhaps he’s both. Regardless of what he’s wearing, Wilder is caring and loyal and strong and so sexy that I’m having trouble remembering why I shouldn’t push him into the backseat of his SUV and crawl on top of him.

Review: The Lost Sun (The United States of Asgard #1) by Tessa Gratton

The Lost Sun (The United States of Asgard, #1)The Lost Sun by Tessa Gratton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

Fans of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" and Holly Black's "The Curse Workers" will embrace this richly drawn, Norse-mythology-infused alternate world: the United States of Asgard. Seventeen-year-old Soren Bearskin is trying to escape the past. His father, a famed warrior, lost himself to the battle-frenzy and killed thirteen innocent people. Soren cannot deny that berserking is in his blood--the fevers, insomnia, and occasional feelings of uncontrollable rage haunt him. So he tries to remain calm and detached from everyone at Sanctus Sigurd's Academy. But that's hard to do when a popular, beautiful girl like Astrid Glyn tells Soren she dreams of him. That's not all Astrid dreams of--the daughter of a renowned prophetess, Astrid is coming into her own inherited abilities.
When Baldur, son of Odin and one of the most popular gods in the country, goes missing, Astrid sees where he is and convinces Soren to join her on a road trip that will take them to find not only a lost god, but also who they are beyond the legacy of their parents and everything they've been told they have to be.

REVIEW

Mythology of Skandinavia. Most of us think immediatelly of Thor and Antony Hopkins as Odin. But on Tessa Gratton's book the mythology merges with reality.

Completely.

Soren is a berseker and as all bersekers he carries the fury of his spirit and the fear of madness from his fther life. When Astrid, one of Freya's seers, asks for his help they form an unexpected team in order to search for the lost sun god.
The first and most amazing part of her storytelling is the world building. How the society meges with the existence of the gods as also the way people are organised and live, reprsenting the gods.

The story is told from Soren's POV and it covers the plot in a deep emotional level. The romance is truly to die for, since the mythology of the northern lands tend to become... tragic in many levels.

I don't know if the ending can satisfy you but it did it for me and I hope it will do it for you too! Next book on the series: The strange maid.

If you like the series, make sure to check the short stories which are also published! So what do you like on mythology related books? You can find more on Amazon bars on your left. :)

                                                                Excerpt:
All the words in the world vanished the moment I got an eyeful of Ren. Holy hotness with an extra side of sexy, when Ren cleaned up, he took his handsomeness into a totally different stratosphere. The waves and curls of his hair were currently tamed, styled back from his face, showing off the angle of his cheekbones and the fullness of his lips. He was wearing a white dress shirt that showed off the hard lines of his broad shoulders and flashed a glimpse of tawny skin at his neck. I noticed then, somehow never really seeing it before, a leather cord hanging from his neck and disappearing under his shirt. I was sure that was what carried the clover, but as my gaze traveled over him, I quickly forgot about it. The edges of the tattoo poked out of the collar of his shirt, and his sleeves were rolled up to the elbow, exposing powerful forearms. The dark trousers completed the outfit. It was effortless class. When I dragged my gaze back to his,
I realized I hadn’t been the only one doing the scrutinizing. He was staring at me in his intense, consuming way, and I stepped back from the door, suddenly feeling very . . . vulnerable. As if I was exposed in front of him. Heat crept into my cheeks as I plastered my arms to my sides.
“Sorry I . . . took so long. I was . . .” I trailed off as he continued to stare at me.
“What?” Ren stepped into the house, catching the door and closing it behind him.
His presence filled the living room, and I could barely drag in enough air.
“This is wrong,” he said, voice thick. Surprised by the statement, I glanced down at myself. I knew I looked like a silly girl playing dress up.
“It’s the only dress I could wear,” I said, feeling the weight of embarrassment settling on my shoulders. He gave a little shake of his head as his bright green eyes met mine.
“Oh, sweetness, you did wrong in all the right ways.” I wasn’t following. “How in the world am I going to pay attention when you look like that?” he chided softly, and my eyes widened.
He moved forward, so close that I had to tip my chin up to meet his stare. He reached out, fingering the loose sleeve of my dress.
“You are utterly distracting.”
“I am?” A half smile appeared as his fingers skipped off the material and traced the line of my shoulder, sending a tight shiver down my spine.
Then his finger wrapped around a curl, the back of his hand brushing the swell of my breast. He tugged it straight like he’d done before.
 “You are absolutely beautiful, Ivy.”

Review: The Young Elites (The Young Elites #1) by Marie Lu

The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1)The Young Elites by Marie Lu
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.

Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

REVIEW

From the author of "Legend" comes a stpry of power, history and betryal.

When Adelina finds out that she has powers like many young people all over her country, after the pass of a fever, she is led to be killed. The Young Elites save her and from there begins a story of discovering her powers but also taming the darkness in her.

The POVs are seperated into third and first, something I've seen a lot this year and liked it very much. Adelina is a girl with darkness in her. She is not your typical fluffy good girl, she bleeds, hates and has ambitions.

The setting? You could say that in many aspects it can remind you of Venice at Rennaisance with a touch of magic and X-men. The rest of the characters, mostly the Young Elites are not so much developed, but instead we have glimpses from Enzo, Teren and Raffaele.

In the end another POV is added and if you read the book, you can see the plot line which i hope will be developed at the second book! The "Young Elites" is a must read which continues Marie's talent on storytelling and opens well her debut on historical fiction, something harder than dystopian. :)

Review: "Sublime" by Christina Lauren

SublimeSublime by Christina Lauren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

Love is . . . beautiful, dangerous, scary. Sublime . . .

A boy emerges. Wild, dark curls fall into his eyes. In that moment her silent heart twists beneath the empty walls of her chest. This is the first physical sensation she has had since waking under a sky full of falling leaves.

Something about the light in his eyes when he looks up makes her ache to share herself with him.

But share what? Her mind? Her body? How can she share things she doesn't know?

REVIEW

I believe that "Sublime" has the position of the most haunting read of 2014. It's a story of love, humor but most of all...loss.

Lucy awake alone into the grounds of a private school with no recolection of her past. Then she meets Colin.
Their attraction is instant but not the insta-love occasion. The plot is a mystery itself and it grips you until the moment you get the answers. While Colin tries to find out more about Lucy, she becomes more and more stronger, especially when Colin realises that the closer to death he is, the closer he gets to Lucy.

Many would think that Colin is an uncaring character, who thinks little for himself. But his own personal story is one of loneliness. Through Lucy he finds somewhere to belong and she too needs him. Although I would think her as the bad character of the story, when i reached the final pages, i was stunned.

The ending was one of those where you can clearly can say "what happened now?" but the real point was the lesson: no one can survive alone and sometimes love can win against the seperation of death.

Emotional, sensual, a must read!

                             EXCERPT:

Gwen is leaning against the window. Every time I leave her, I forget. She’s not all gangly limbs and huge eyes and dirty hair hanging in her face, flinching at her own shadow. Not anymore. That Gwen still haunts my island, but this—this Gwen is breathtaking.
She thinks she’s broken. Fractured pieces of a broken mind, held together by medication and stubborn denial. But she doesn’t see herself, not the way I do.
Lane had that right. She’s breathtaking—even now, when I know she’s sad and broken. She stands straight, a pair of thin sleep pants curving around her ass before falling loose and free to the floor. Her shoulders are back, graceful and strong, under the thick sweater she’s wearing, her hair pulled into a messy knot at the top of her head.
She can see me, my reflection in the dark glass. And I see the tension in her tighten, drawing her up and sharp, until she’s almost vibrating with it. “Why are you here?” she asks, her voice low and hoarse.
She sounds like that when she’s been crying. I know—I’ve heard her so many times, heard her tears. Wiped them away. Whispered happy thoughts until I teased a smile from her.
“Peter,” she snaps, and I jerk, out of the memories and into the moment.
“You ran away.”
She gives an unladylike snort. “You decided you were a delusion of my past, and then you expected me to sit there and listen to your insane ramblings. Thanks, but no. I can’t do that. I’ve had enough crazy for one life.” She bites her lip, and then blurts, “You stole my file, didn’t you? That’s how you know about the Boy.”
“Do you remember the firefly meadow?”
She goes still, and I smile, gently. “You do.”
“That wasn’t real,” she whispers, and I feel the shudder.
“We’d hide there, from the lsot boys. And you’d fall asleep telling me your happy thoughts, and wake up to a galaxy of fireflies, and we’d chase them until you made yourself sick, laughing. And then I’d hold you and we’d stare at the stars, and you always said they were different. It smelled like jasmine and honey-“
“And wild woods and freedom,” she whispers, her blue eyes impossibly wide in her pretty face. I take a tentative step toward her, and touch her fingers.
Why are your stars different?
“It wasn’t a delusion, Gwendy. You know it wasn’t. Trust yourself.”
She shudders. “Can’t. My mind lies. It wasn’t—“
“Gwendy,” I say, desperately. Her eyes are filling with tears and I can feel the disbelief, the way it will tear apart the world I’ve known, and the girl I’ve loved, and I can’t. I move without thinking, catch her head and bring her lips to mine.

Excerpt from FRAGILE REIGN

Rowan
After Marcus left, the lack of sleep and overuse of my power had finally caught up to me. My lids were heavy, making it hard to keep my eyes open. I laid down on the nearest bed, sinking into the softness of the vanilla scented pillows. I could rest here until tomorrow, and then meet Kalin on the beach at sundown. As I closed my eyes, I imagined her in that sexy sundress with the ocean breeze wafting through her red curls. My lips tingled remembering the raspberry taste of her kisses. With all this craziness going on, she was the one thing that made sense. The only person who could make me forget about everything for a little while. Kalin was the one I wanted. The only one I needed. I shook my head. What was wrong with me? It was too soon to be thinking about this stuff, right? It had only been a few weeks. And what did I know about real feelings, anyway? Had it not been for Marcus, I would never even know what it felt like to care for someone. Love was never part of my life. My mother thought love was a weakness—a totally worthless emotion compared to power and control. But that still didn’t explain how I was feeling. Why everything seemed better when Kalin was around. Why my fingers ached to touch her. Why her pain shattered me to the core. I put my hands over my face. Or, maybe the lack of sleep was making me delusional. With a smirk, I gave in to the darkness that was overwhelming me and fell asleep.

William Morrow Trade Paperback; February 10, 2015; $13.99; ISBN: 9780062331083

At Boomerang, one night can change everything…

Adam Blackwood has it all. At twenty-two, he’s fabulously wealthy, Ryan Gosling-hot and at the top of his game in the business world. His life is perfect, until a scandal from his past resurfaces and threatens to knock the tech wunderkind down and throw his company, Boomerang, a hook-up site for millennials, into chaos.
Alison Quick, the twenty-one-year-old daughter of a business tycoon—and the very ex-girlfriend of Boomerang’s former intern, Ethan—has a problem of her own.

After nearly flunking out in her senior year of college, she has one chance to redeem herself to her father by proving that she deserves a place in his corporate empire. That means spearheading her father’s plan to sink big money into Adam’s company and launch it into the stratosphere—provided Adam has no skeletons in his closet. When the two meet, their sizzling chemistry makes it tough to keep things strictly professional. But when Alison discovers Adam’s secret, she knows she should bring it right to her father, who’ll leverage it for his own gain and use it to ruin Adam.

The only problem: she’s falling for Adam—hard. Will earning her father’s approval come at the price of losing her first real love? Or can Adam and Alison leave behind past mistakes and conquer the world—together?

Boomerang (Boomerang, #1)

Sumarry from Goodreads:

The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up

Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.

Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.

As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

Review: Chaos (Guards of the Shadowlands #3) by Sarah Fine

Chaos (Guards of the Shadowlands #3)Chaos by Sarah Fine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

With Juri in control and everything in absolute chaos, Lela plunges into the depths of hell to free Malachi from creatures that have waited decades to exact their revenge. But the Judge has her own way of doing things, and Lela must work with Ana, the new Captain, who has a very personal mission of her own. Together, they infiltrate the most horrifying realm either has yet encountered in the Shadowlands—the bitter landscape ruled by the Mazikin.

The stakes could not be higher, and Lela must accept the help—and love—of people she barely knows or trusts. As alliances and loyalties shift and she realizes the soul she came to save isn’t the only one in need of rescue, can Lela summon the strength to see the fight through to the very end?

REVIEW

With an heart pounding conclusion "Chaos" becomes one of the most action packed novels, I've read this year!

When Lela bargains again with the Jugdge, she never expects what her mission will be. Along with old, new and forgotten allies she will travel to the cruelest part of this otherworld, where Malachi suffers worse than Hell.

The emotions, the battle scenes and the messages Sarah Fine passes through her witting are worth to be remembered.
An excellent read!

Don't miss the giveaway of the first book of the trilogy!

                                                  About BURYING WATER:

The top-selling, beloved indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths returns with a new romance about a young woman who loses her memory—and the man who knows that the only way to protect her is to stay away. Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him? Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried. The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.   About K.A. Review: Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements, #2)Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

REVIEW

I have been expecting the sequel all summer and i was really glad for the chance to have a copy! ;)

Stone Cold Touch" takes place two weeks after Roth's fall into the pit with Layla worrying over him and tension into the Warden clan. When Layla finds herself into a really difficult situation along with Zayne, then the real problem begins.
Roth returns but things are really strange between Layla and him. And with Zayne's growing feelings for her, everything blows apart.

Into a plot where witty dialogues, funny scenes and really charged emotional, and steamy, scenes Jennifer Armentrout delivers a thrilling story, where good and wrong sometimes aren't easy to tell apart.

As one of Team Roth, i believe that the ending of the second book, is a good point to see who will Layla choose. While I din't expect the 'bad guy' to appear like this, i was really moved by Roth's words. While I also like Zayne, i found that he was really late to express his feelings and in some reasons, at the second half of the book, he was acting more like a teenager rather than the man he is.

Overall, and in a few words, i can't wait for 2015!!!
