Dirty Exes by Rachel Van Dyken
Publication Date: June 5th, 2018
Genre: Contemporary Romance

They’re serving up some red-hot revenge. A sizzling series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel van Dyken.

Blaire has never quite gotten over Jessie Beckett, the ex–NFL star whose kisses were hot enough to ignite the entire Eastern Seaboard. When he chose work over her, Blaire was left brokenhearted. Why else would she have married a skeezy two-timer, just to divorce him less than a year later?
Now Blaire is getting even by becoming one half of Dirty Exes, a PI firm fully committed to humiliating cheating jerks. If only the new jerk she’s been hired to uncover wasn’t Jessie Beckett himself.
Exposing Jessie isn’t going to be easy, especially when she still daydreams about his sexy smile. Further complicating matters is Colin, Jessie’s best friend. He’s gorgeous, a little bit cunning, and willing to help Blaire get the inside scoop on Jessie—for a price.
Now caught between two men—one totally right and the other totally wrong—Blaire will need to decide just how much she’s willing to risk…and whom she’s willing to risk it for.

Excerpt:
It ended there. Right. Forget about his mouth. Or the way I sighed when he touched my shoulder. The way my body quivered when his skin pressed against mine in the car. “Stop!” I gritted my teeth and searched the kitchen. Cheaters often hid things in places that their spouse wouldn’t expect, like pantries and junk drawers, places that seemed obvious but weren’t. I’d once found a second cell phone in a cereal box. Cheaters were like drug addicts. They knew the perfect place to hide the drugs. I shuddered. Dirty. Toilets. Not the best day I’d ever had, but marginally better than the sewer. I spent the next thirty minutes with plastic gloves searching every crevice of that kitchen, patting down the inside of drawers, digging through trash. Nothing.
The guy was either a saint . . Or we had a serious Dexter situation going on, and he knew exactly how to dispose of incriminating evidence. Sexy male laughter jolted me from my search. I freaked, ran into the pantry, and shut the door just as Jessie’s face came into view. Sweat trickled down my back. Shit, shit, shit!
Oh, this was bad, so bad. What man didn’t want to eat after coming home from the gym?
“Nice, man, she keeps the book on the bar?” Colin’s mocking voice at least made me feel like I wasn’t the only one who thought it was strange. “Fams always so classy.”
“Yeah,” Jessie agreed. “I think maybe it’s her way of reminding me how happy we were that one year.” He hesitated. “You know, the one where we actually did normal things like stay home and make dinner, and watch movies instead of going out all the time. That went to hell fast.” Colin sighed. “She writes a book about our best year, and then turns into this greedy person I don’t recognize and dream about murdering in her sleep.”
“Hey,” Colin warned. “I get it, I do, but she’s still my—”
“Sorry, man.” “It’s fine, like I said, I get it.” I plastered my ear to the door to listen harder. What did Colin mean? Why was he defending her? Why was Jessie saying sorry? I made a mental note to purchase the book and torture myself by reading it cover to cover. “You contemplate murdering her while she sleeps,” Colin said in a weird tone, “and yet she’s still living here in this house with you? Tell me how that makes sense? You say she’s not the same person, but she never really was the person you thought she was.
When are you going to get that?” “She was different then, man. She was.” Jessie came to her defense so quickly I almost fell backward. He sounded like—he still had feelings for her. I turned my attention back to the door as footsteps neared the pantry. Oh hell. Not good. I needed to get out. Fast. I grabbed my cell and texted Colin. And seconds later heard a ping.
“Another one of your sex buddies?” Jessie teased. Colin paused and then,
“Oh yeah, but this one’s been really hard to tame. You know the type, a bit schizo but so hot you don’t care that she asks to twist your nipples while she licks your nose.”
“Seriously?” Jessie choked. “She likes noses. And snake tattoos, loves them.”
“Lucky for you.”
“I think it reminds her of the size of my dick, you know?” I made a gagging noise, shifted on my feet, then texted again. Me: Seriously! Trapped! And your dick can’t be the size of that python on your arm because that would mean you actually impale women on a daily basis. Colin: Just call me Dracula. I frowned. Colin: Get it? The impaler.

Me: Look at that, basement dweller can joke! He’s got jokes! Meanwhile I’m going to starve to death in this pantry.
Colin: You mean around all that food?

“Wow, this girl must have skills if you’re that focused on your texts . . .” Jessie trailed off. “She’s . . . unique,” Colin finally said. My eyes narrowed. Was that a compliment? Did it matter? Why did I care?
And why the hell did Jessie have ten different kinds of cereal—and all the boxes were full. And alphabetized? Starting with Apple Jacks? Really? Not that I’d resorted to more snooping. Okay, so I’d resorted to more snooping. But the fact that they were full was emotionally distressing. A full cereal box at my house lasts about one hot minute before I get a craving for Cheerios that even wine can’t cure. “Hey”—Colin cleared his throat—“I need a favor.” “Anything,” Jessie said quickly. “I need a nice shirt for a date tonight, something . . . classy.” Jessie laughed. “What? You can’t wear your own clothes?” “You know I like your style better.” I rolled my eyes, has he seen that man’s closet? His white shirts are all ironed to within an inch of their lives.
“Plus I want to impress this girl and I don’t have time to go grab a new shirt, we’re going on a late lunch date and I’m sweaty as hell, so please? Let me borrow a shirt, I’ll go home and shower, pair it with some nice jeans, and be inside her in no time.” I glared at the door. Like I could actually see Colin’s smug expression.
Why was my heart thumping?
Why was I breathing like I was having trouble sucking in air? He could date whomever he wanted. I shifted on my feet as my face heated. He was an attractive, successful man. I crossed my arms. Then uncrossed them nervously. “Yeah, yeah,” Jessie finally said. “I’ll be right back, try not to burn down the kitchen or set the book on fire.” “Shit, you read my mind,” Colin joked. The sound of footsteps faded as Jessie walked toward the bedroom. And then pantry door was jerked open. I blinked up at him.
“Thank you.”
“People . . . they pay you,” he said, leaning his large frame against the door while his muscles bulged beneath his sweat-soaked shirt, “for this?”
My eyes narrowed. “Yes! And I’m good at it.” His smirk was wicked as he glanced behind me and then locked eyes. “Obviously.” I shoved his chest. “I miscalculated the time, that’s all.” I tried squeezing past him, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back into the pantry and closed the door. “What the hell are you doing?” I hissed as he pressed me against the wall. “He’s going to find me!” “A favor for a favor, spy girl.”
Colin’s grin turned menacing. “I got Jessie out of the house, gave you my car, and saved your sorry ass. I get a favor.”
“I’m not sucking your nose and licking your tattoo, you psycho,” I said, repeating what he’d said earlier.
“Don’t knock it, you may love it.” He winked, and then stood his ground. “One favor.” I sighed and gritted my teeth. “Fine.” “A date,” he said triumphantly. “I want a date.” “A date,” I repeated in a slightly panicked voice. “Like to dinner?”
“No, I was thinking the drive-in, we could make out, eat popcorn, I’d feel you up a bit—yeah, dinner.” I smirked. “If I go to dinner with you . . . you’ll get me out of this godforsaken pantry with the full boxes of cereal?”
 “Noticed that, did you?’
“He’s clearly not human.”
“I steal his Cocoa Puffs every chance I get.” I nodded seriously. “I think my respect for you grew just now.”
“Ah, she likes cereal.”
“She’d also like to not get caught!”
“Go.” He shoved me toward the pantry door. “Run out the back and try not to trip and ruin your escape.”
“I don’t trip.” Of course, at that moment, I tripped over my own feet and almost face-planted into his lips. He sighed, his expression worried and a bit stunned as Jessie’s voice carried to the kitchen. “Black okay?”
“Go.” Colin shoved me again. “Oh, and you’re picking me up. It seems I’m down a car.” He winked. “I’ll text you.”

Release Day Blitz+Excerpt+Giveaway: "One True Love" by Linda Kage

One True Love
Linda Kage
Publication date: June 6th 2018
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance
Custom demanded that Prince Urban get a love mark tattooed to the side of his left eye as an infant, just like the rest of his people, but to him, the stupid things have only brought on the scorn of his father, the misery of his siblings, and caused his entire kingdom to go broke from fighting so many wars over the irritating ink stains.
When Urban’s sister must travel to Donnelly, the kingdom within the sand, for her arranged marriage to align two realms, he goes with her. But he no sooner steps foot inside their castle than his mark starts itching like a son of a bitch, telling him his one true love is near.
It just figures, though, that the woman meant for him is completely forbidden. Now he must decide if he should ignore the persistent mark, telling him she’s the one, in order to avoid a possible war between kingdoms, or if he should discover whether she’s worth risking everything for so they can be together. Either way, his life gets sucked into chaos with threats of beheadings, dark magic lurking, castle traitors scheming, and sword fights eminent.
Who knew one little tattoo could cause so much trouble?

EXCERPT:
What a peculiar place. I couldn’t decide if the entire kingdom was just that naïve or if all this pleasantry was part of the grand trap they were about to spring on us.
Allera sent me a warning glance. “Open minded, remember?”
Making a face, I clutched the sword at my side and nodded before cracking my neck from one side to the other. Open minded. Sure. Until they tried to kill us, anyway.
We came to the gateway that led into the middle bailey, and there, we were instructed by the guards to leave the carriage as we were to separate ourselves from the servants we’d brought with us and walk the rest of the way on foot.
I opened the door and glanced around for danger. Unable to spot any, I reluctantly folded down the steps and hopped to the ground before managing to somehow angle my body so I could assist Allera on her descent and not turn my back to a single guard.
A dignitary whose bangs on his blond hair were clipped far too short stepped forward, bearing a scroll under one arm. My return scowl seemed to disconcert him, making him shy a step back. After fumbling to unroll the scroll with shaking hands, he read us the greeting, then let us know he would lead us to the Throne Room where King Caulder and his brother Prince Brentley were waiting to receive us.
Allera was all smiles and patient nods, thanking the man. I stood stonily at her elbow until we set off after Short Bangs. Wrapping both hands around the front buckle of my sword belt, I strode beside her, back rigid and gaze alert, as I took in the beauty of the palace.
Everything here seemed new and clean. Spotlessly perfect, in fact. I couldn’t find a flaw anywhere in all its excellence.
Which made me itch.
Literally.
I shook my head at the insistent sensation that quite abruptly wouldn’t leave me, and I scratched my temple heartily.
Didn’t help.
When I kept scratching it, Allera shifted closer to me and hissed from the side of her mouth, “What the devil are you doing? Stop that. You’re going to make our entire clan look like deranged lunatics by the way you keep fondling your eye.”
“I can’t help it.” My fingernails raked relentlessly over the spot on the side of my left eye, unable to make the skin stop prickling. “My mark’s itching like a bastard.”
“Well, you know what that means, don’t you?” She sounded irritated. “And I said STOP scratching it already. People are staring.”
In front of us, Short Bangs glanced back curiously. Offering him a tight smile, I dropped my hand back to my belt, and he faced forward again. My smile instantly morphed into a glare, which I shot Allera’s way.
How was it that she still talked down to me as if I were a child? I’d led battles, controlled my own fleet of ships, bedded some of the most beautiful, exotic women in three realms, and gotten the king of Lowden to kneel before me because of my intimidating presence after my army had defeated his. Yet Allera wiped all that prestige away with a single, degrading glance.
Older sisters could suck the man right out of a fellow, I swear.
“What does it mean, oh wise one?” I mocked moodily, winking one eye so it would wrinkle that cheek in an effort to alleviate the sensation without actually touching it. That didn’t help either, dammit. “That I’m allergic to the kingdom of Donnelly? I could’ve told you that.”
I glanced around at the servants who’d stopped working to watch us pass. Even they looked clean and well-clothed. It was just plain weird. And suspicious. Could one kingdom really have this much wealth and good standing with their peasants and be so goddamn welcoming?
“No, you nimrod.” Allera sighed and shook her head. “It means your one true love is near.”
Forgetting about the peculiarity of my surroundings, I stopped walking and swung around to gape at my sister incredulously. “THE HELL YOU SAY!”

EXCERPT

“What’s with you and nakedness?”
“It’s how we’re born.” I smirked. “Easy.”
“I was also born with crooked teeth and no hair, so I should revert back to that?”
“Actually,” I licked my lips, “You were born without teeth, unless God made you extra special…” I pushed away from the counter. “Did he?”
She plastered her ass against the door and looked up at me. “Did he what?”
“Make you extra special?”
“Why are we in the bathroom?”
“It think it was a power move on your part, lock me in here, tell me how things are going to be, maybe add in a spanking and teach me my lesson—“
“—why do I even talk to you?” Blaire wondered out loud.
“Because I’m not boring. Like some football players…”
“You never played football.”
“Guilty. I was more of a rugby sort of guy, what prick wears padding?”
She eyed me skeptically, “No offense but don’t Rugby players have a bit more…” She gulped and looked down past my waist, “Okay this is coming out wrong but… thicker—“
The more she talked the redder she got like she couldn’t bring her eyes up any higher without doing permanent damage to her retinas.
I grinned so hard my face hurt. “Thicker?”
“Um,” She pressed a hand to her forehead. “Legs, damn it, legs!”
“Totally thought you were going somewhere else with that, spy girl.”
She made a face and crossed her arms. “Stop calling me that, it makes me feel young, stupid, and inexperienced.”
“Like a virgin?” I said helpfully. “Touched for the very first time?” She muttered out a dear God what did I do in a past life to deserve him.
I took it as a compliment and pressed my hands against the door on either side of her head. “I think you’re asking yourself the wrong question.”
She frowned, “I didn’t say anything.”
“No, but you’re thinking it.” I whispered. “You’re wondering what the hell you’re doing in here instead of out there.”
She swallowed and looked away.
I tilted her face back towards mine, my finger and thumb cradling her chin. “The past always looks better through I got fucked over glasses.” I got a bit closer, so close I could taste the mint from her gum. “You think you still want him. You’re wrong.”
She inhaled sharply. “You don’t know me.”
“I know you blush from here,” I tapped her chin then ran my hand down the slim column of her neck until it pressed against her chest. “To here, when you get embarrassed,” I leaned in and whispered in her ear. “Or turned on.”
She blushed immediately.
I kissed her neck and said. “Told you so.”
She shoved me away so fast I almost got whiplash. “This,” She took another deep breath. “This is business.”
“This?” I pointed between her and me. “Is more than business, but whatever helps you sleep at night spy girl… just be sure to let me know when you want it to get more personal because I’d love to see every inch of blush infused skin, and I’d love to eat my way—“
“—No.” Shed jammed her finger at me. “When I called you, you literally had to kick a woman out of bed.”
“Two, actually.” I shrugged, “Not that it matters.”
“See!”
“So? I like women.”
“I’m not them.”
“No,” I said seriously. “You’re not. If you were, this would already be finished.”
“There is no… this, or us, beyond you helping me get info on Jessie and Vanessa.”
“Sure.” I nodded. “Fine.”
“Why don’t I believe you?”
“Because I just lied.” I admitted with a grin, “But at least you know where I stand.”
“Oh yeah? Where’s that?”
“In front of you.” I smirked. “Obviously.” I walked towards her again and reached for the door knob, “Look I’m just a guy standing in front of a girl asking her to—“
“—finish that sentence and I’m going to show you my kung fu skills.”

EXCERPT:

“This life is not glamorous,” Duke told her. “We travel constantly. We sleep on the ground most nights. When we’re not in danger from storms, we’re in danger in cities where we are considered criminals. This life is not for the faint of heart.” “There are things I do not know, things I will have to learn. But I am capable. I am familiar with sacrifice. I know what it is to make hard choices.” “Tell me you’re not considering this,” Locke said to Duke. The old man was silent for a long moment, both Locke and Roar looking to him for support. Duke rubbed at his mustache, a habit of his when he was thinking deeply. “Let’s think about this, Locke. She’s smart.
And determined.” “She’s a child.” Roar’s shoulders hunched in Locke’s peripheral vision, and he swallowed back the guilt. He could apologize later. For now, it was imperative that he won this argument. “You were a child when I brought you into the fold,” Duke said. “She’s a young woman with a good head on her shoulders. And if this is what she wants, I’m inclined to at least hear her out.”
Just like that, Roar’s shoulders straightened, and Locke turned to watch a devastating smile bloom across her mouth. His weakness when it came to her only made him more cross. “What skills do you have?” he snapped at Roar. “Skills?” “Yes, skills. What can you do? Or do you just plan to tag along for the ride?” A flush spread over her cheeks, and her voice was tentative when she answered, “I’m good on a horse. Very good.” Where in the world would she have learned to ride?
He quickly hardened his expression. “Horses are fine for travel, but they don’t do well in storms. They, unlike you, have good survival instincts.” As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Locke could have sworn he felt an updraft—the first sign that bad weather could occur—and he knew that this time he had pushed too far. Roar marched toward him, spearing a finger into his chest and said, “I can read and write. I can speak Taraanese, Finlaghi, and Odilarian. I can read maps. I know enough about grassland vegetation and wildlife to survive without a market to buy food and drink. I’m good with knives and a bow. I learn quickly, and I’m not afraid of hard work. And I’ve spent my entire life reading as much about storms as I could get my hands on.” For a moment, her voice cracked under the weight of her anger, but she took a huffing breath and continued: “I’m good with numbers. It’s been a while, but I think I can probably still draw the constellations from memory, which should make me decent at navigation. I can—“ “Enough.” Locke’s voice came out in a deep rasp. He captured her long, delicate finger in his fist before she could continue poking him. He felt short of breath at the sight of her—livid and lovely. “Enough.” The old Locke might have kept arguing, and Roar would have met him toe-to-toe.
But if becoming a storm hunter had taught him anything, it was that fighting head-on wasn’t always the way to win. Sometimes strategy was required. He met Duke’s eyes over her shoulder, and if he had thought Roar looked smug before, she had nothing on his mentor. The man raised his eyebrows in a challenge and asked, “You?” He hated the idea of bringing someone into this dangerous life, but if it was going to happen regardless, he sure as hell wouldn’t hand her safety over to anyone else, not even Ransom. And at the very least, it would give him the opportunity to change her mind. He gritted his teeth and nodded his acceptance.

Synopsis

Sometimes it only takes a minute. A connection of eyes across a room, and everything changes. I was a cocktail waitress with a fondness for partying and meaningless sex. He owned half of Vegas, with the reputation to match. I should have turned away. Instead, I stepped closer. Then, the liesstarted. Rumors spread. Stalking commenced. And someone died. None of it stopped me from falling in love.

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Mystery, intrigue, power, and money are at stakes in this amazing new book by Alessandra Torre! With Las Vegas in the background the story of Bell and Dario gripped from the start and I liked every part of it. There are some extra POVs thrown in for more suspense and while the book seemed small, there was one hell of a cliffhanger! I won't spoil but if you want something sexy, dangerous and full of stakes then this is for you!
