"Blood Red Road" by Moira Young GoodReads review

Blood Red Road (Dust Lands, #1)Blood Red Road by Moira Young
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I had high expectations of this story. Well, it was interesting at first to learn from pieces what happened to the world; why nature is so violent and how the people became like this.

In "Blood Red Road" Saba lives with her father, her brother Lugh and her sister Emmi into a desertland. One day an armed troop appears, kills her father and abducts her brother. From that point Saba and her sister will travel in order to find Lugh.

While the plot was interesting, there was a strange use of words and grammar in this book. For those who'll read it, don't worry, it's not fault from the publication, just the author's way to keep in with the enviromant of her story. From the characters, Jack was the strongest of all while at some points I got really irritated with Saba and even found Emmi cooler.
Even the bad guy has a hard time STAYING dead.

I hope the next book to be more interesting from the first. Until then: 3 of 5 stars

"Five Ways to Fall" by K. A. Tucker GoodReads review+giveaway

Five Ways to Fall (Ten Tiny Breaths, #4)Five Ways to Fall by K.A. Tucker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I first began reading "Ten tiny breaths" I never expected the series to evolve into one of my favorite contemporary, together with Colleen Hoover's of course!

On "Five ways to fall" we get to see Ben's story; you know the guy whom Kacey tried to (ehm) pin on the bathroom? Yup, that one! After finishing his work on Penny's he goes to law school. On a trip down to Mexico he meets with Reese, the total type of kick-ass heroine.
And then hell erupts!

It was one of the most enjoyable books of the series. Less emotional than ten tiny breaths and four seconds to lose and was also placed chronologically between Storm's wedding and Caine's research; the main characters focus on their 'friendship' at first, which involves lots of paintball and office pranks and later at the admittance of their feelings.

Their stories were heart breaking and a little planned for my tastes but I enjoyed the ending. I only hope this will not be Tucker's last book.

Until the next review on her? :)

"Sinner" GoodReads review

Sinner (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #3.5)Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've got to say that still Cole knows how to be a adorable, really intimidating singer! That makes me want to hear him sing!

On a companion novel from the Shiver series, Cole and Isabel meet again on L.A. She tries to settle her life back, after returning from Minnesotta while Cole comes back for her. That's at least the first reason. Put in a ridiculous reality show (really insulting) and their double POV and you have Maggie's poetry in flesh (or in paper).

Even if it seems to be the end, I would love to have them all back, Sam, Grace, Cole and Isabel. While the news of the upcoming movie still are scattered all around the Web, i can't stop anticipating the novel on moving to motion picture. Until next time 5 of 5 stars

"A need so Insiatible" GoodReads review

A Need So Insatiable (Hearts #1)A Need So Insatiable by Cecilia Robert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You can also see my review on http://alexperc92.blogspot.com/

We do have an appreciation for Contemporary but on Cecilia's "A need so Insiatible" we get so much more!

Sophie lives in a hard life. With only her sister left, a dept that literally hunts her and a deep pain, she tries to live through every day. Then Raphael comes; and everything become even more intersting. ;)
I enjoyed the comedy, the descritpions and even more the mystery of the plot. It's not only the romance. There are cases were the heroine seriously can kick some ass, while the bet Raphael had lost was tru;y hilarious, but what can you say? A man keeps his word! :D

Cecilia knows how to balance a good romance and the mystery but also the heart breaking moments, even the steamy scens! I can't wait to see what the rest of the series will bring!

"Control"+"Until we Fly" GoodReads reviews

Control (Control, #1)Control by Lydia Kang
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While gentetics always had been a theme on some of the sci-fi novels I'd read, I never expected this use in here.

"Control' is set on a futuristic America where most of the Staes are combined into bigger ones, each with her own ruling. Sisters Zelia and Dyl live in one of those yet the day of their moving, a horrible accident happens. From the first chapters we have the mystery of their location as also the first reasons of those around them.
The characters, despite their X-men like powers were funny as teens with troubled pasts. Cy, for example who also becomes a very strong character as the story unfolds. Zelia also is a strong heroine determined to protect her sister and those around her.

The all genetics theme and the political and ethical issues which come from the story are also worth mentioning. Should they be used for good or bad. Should the people born with these powers exist or no? I hope to see the answer on the second book.

For now: 5 of 5 stars

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Read on 1 day!

You can't say Courtney Cole and not mean her "Beautifully Broken" series or the "Minaldi" series!

With the fourth book we have the most emotional, heart moving story of all four books! Brand and Nora are the best of the couples both scarred, both with need to be loved. That's something different from the other books of the series.
Brand is loveless because of a terrible past, while Nora suffers from a vile incindent (which by the way is the 1 star less. Too much for me but that doesn't mean that it wasn't important).

But the most important quote of all?

Before we fall, we fly Believe in yourselves people!

"White Hot Kiss" Good Reads Review

White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1)White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Only one author who have written about sexy aliens and smoke hot demi-Greek Gods would use the eternal battle between good and evil in such way!

"White Hot Kiss" is the best combination of comedy, where demons have names of Dinesy characters (OMG!) and gargoyles become the must on the good side, which reminds me of "The Beautiful and the Cursed".
Layla has a secret; she can't kiss anyone, unless she takes his soul in the proccess. When a Demon named Roth enters her life after lower deomns began threatening her, Layla would find herself in the middle of a battle and... hmmm temptation! (since Roth doesn't have a soul!" :*

And the ending? It's one of those which leaves you hanging, wondering, crying and demanding the NEXT BOOK!

And since the next time I'll leave you with a quote, I ADORED!

Rebel (Reboot, #2)Rebel by Amy Tintera
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

With a breath taking pace, emotionally mind blowing Reboot ends with all the hopes i had for the series.

After Wren and Callum reach the reservation, things are not exactlly how they hoped to be. With HARC on their trails and the Reboots balancing between life and death Wren and her company will have to reach the best of their abilities.
And emotions.

I liked the dual POV and i was glad i got to peek Callum's thoughts about Wren. :) And also I reallt, really had me on the ending especially on the last battle, for a moment i got a coronary, thinking that I'll get to have another "Insurgent" heart-breaking ending!
But NO I got my wish!

A truly intruing combination of high fantasy, dystopia and action.

Paige lives in an alternative version of London where people with abilities, abilities which touch the unknown plane of aether are hunted down by Scion. She works as a con inside an criminal syndicate until the moment she is arrested.

Instead of death she founds herself admist a new world where people of other dimensions, monsters and discrimination rule. There she goes under the 'care' of Warden an enigmatic man with even more enigmatic past.

Mystery and the power of dreams mix into this strong, highly addictive novel! I liked the way Paige tried to keep her mind sane and how Warden did everything into his nature in order to help her. I want more moments between these two!!! As for the end? It will not disappoint as it will leave you hanging and wondering what will hapen next!

FLUX Blog Tour: Review

Today I am pleased to invite you to my stop on the blog tour of FLUX by Ellie Carstens! A new debut novel from REUTS Publications, which has a mysterious combination of Romance, Vikings and... aliens!
Also Ellie has stopped by to answer some of my questions. :) Without delay here we go!

The last thing sixteen-year-old Alaina Oftedahl-Miller expected was to watch her mom brutally destroy their life.
But, in the wake of tragedy, strength forms. Shipped off to live with her birth father, Alaina finds herself dealing with more than just being the new Canadian girl in a Norwegian school. Juggling the formation of a relationship with the man who abandoned her as a child, and a budding attraction to KaiusVargøy–the mysterious, beautiful classmate who’s been assigned as her personal translator–Alaina can’t shake the feeling that every move she makes is being watched. Judged.

She soon learns there’s far more to this sleepy Norwegian town than she ever imagined. Kaius and his friends aren’t exactly what they seem, and the repercussions of that could send her traveling through the most unexpected experience of her life. Murder and relocation is one thing, but add in supernatural occurrences and Vikings, and even she may not have the strength to survive.

Book Review

While the book blurp was the first that caught my attention, I was glad for the chance to fully read the novel and write about it. For the lovers of Jennifer Armentrout's LUX series and Tessa Gratton's The United States of Asgard Flux combines in perfect harmoy, sci-fi, historical fiction and mythology not to mention romance!
The story follows Alaina, a girl who's life had taken a grave toll and moves from Toronto to Norway. There she will have to deal with her new life, a father who had years to see and know as also the enigmatic but dead gorgeous Kaius, her new classmate and translator. Kaius and his company, Kamille, Sinja, Magnus and Aleksander are more than what they show and it's not too early for Alaina to fall into their strange yet open, kind hearted world. But darkness lurks and soon Kaius and Alaina will have more to deal with than their feeling for each other.
The POV is told by Alaina and sometimes Kaius. Iliked the way Alaina tries to deal with her new home and life. Despite her fear she makes friends and proves to be a brave girl. Kaius on the other hand, is sweet like a pie (chocolate please!). He cares deeply for Alaina and his friends and you would freak if you found out how long Kaius waited for Alaina. It was adorable and soul wreaking!
As for what will happen? Ellie Carstens style, which is deep descriptive and emotional, is to be praised and I hope to read more of the gang's adventures be it with Vikings or not! :)

Ellie Carstens

For as long as she can recall, Ellie Carstenshas been a huge fan of reading. The genre and content are not important as long as the story holds her captive. She believes that life is too short to be taken seriously all the time and to lose one’s self in a good book is an escape worth taking. Now, she writes science fiction, fantasy, romance, and beyond, creating stories that will hopefully bring that same passion for reading to others.
Flux is her debut title and the first in a Young Adult sci-fi/romance trilogy.

"Fearscape" Good Reads review

Fearscape (Horrorscape, #1)Fearscape by Nenia Campbell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Nenia Campbell has a way with words and descriptions. That was my first thought when I began reading "Fearscape". I had first read her other works and I was relucant on how i would see this one.

We have Val, a nice good natured girl with love for animals and art.
And we have Gavin the contrast of Val. He is obsessed with her and this chase will result into a very, very forthcoming ending.

What i liked? The social drawing of the school, the worries of a 14 years old girl over love, friendship and hatred.
I disliked the way Val's parents handled their daughter, which is a sign on my opinion of how far parents feel from their kids, especially on their teenage years.

Heading to the secnd book, I fear on what Gavin has planned for Val... let's find out.

Blog Tour: Review of "The Rose Master" by Valentina Cano +author guest post!

I am pleased to announce you the new release of REUTS Publications and the work of a talented author, who combines the love of "Beauty and the Beast" with the mystery of "Jane Eyre". The "Rose Master" is a story of pain, love and forgiveness! I hope to enjoy it just like I did!

The Book

The day Anne Tinning turns seventeen, birds fall from the sky. But that's hardly the most upsetting news. She's being dismissed from the home she's served at since she was a child, and shipped off to become the newly hired parlor maid for a place she's never heard of. And when she sees the run-down, isolated house, she instantly knows why:
There's something wrong with Rosewood Manor.
Staffed with only three other servants, all gripped by icy silence and inexplicable bruises, and inhabited by a young master who is as cold as the place itself, the house is shrouded in neglect and thick with fear. Her questions are met with hushed whispers, and she soon finds herself alone in the empty halls, left to tidy and clean rooms no one visits.
As the feeling of being watched grows, she begins to realize there is something else in the house with them--some creature that stalks the frozen halls and claws at her door. A creature that seems intent on harming her.
When a fire leaves Anne trapped in the manor with its Master, she finally demands to know why. But as she forces the truth about what haunts the grounds from Lord Grey, she learns secrets she isn't prepared for. The creature is very real, and she's the only one who can help him stop it.
Now, Anne must either risk her life for the young man she's grown to admire, or abandon her post while she still can.

                                                                                Book Review

Gothic novels always held a mysterious part on my selves. The "Rose Master" was my first book of the genre and I was not disappointed. Emotional, deep in Victorian style as also the mystery of both the Lord and the manor, the author manages to capture both the sense of the era and the characters' struggles.

We have Anne. She is a young servant who is sent to work at Roesewood Manor. Despite the secrets which lurk, literally on every corner, she is strong, confident on her work as also shy. I liked her witty attitude and the way her feelings envolved during the passing of the plot.

Then, it's Lord Grey. His name matches the mood, since he is a fine example of a tortured soul, who struggles with the choices he made and the past which haunts him. I will not say anything about *ahem* his... skills but despite his appearance he is determinated.

The setting fits the cover and the feeling Valentina tries to pass on the reader and the ending is truly satisfying, with the fleeting feeling of a new book and more adventures for Anne and August. I will be waiting eagerly for more from Valentina since her writting is really promising. :D

Manors and their Secrets: The Gothic Novel

Victorian England has always fascinated me. I was raised on a diet of Gothic fiction of all sorts, but the ones that stayed with me have always been the English novels like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Rebecca and a host of others.

I think what caught my attention, more than anything else in these novels, was the intimate atmosphere that the author created. In all the novels I’ve ever loved, there is a real sense of place. In most cases, this means a wonderfully spooky manor. For me, the scarier the manor and the more secrets it holds, the better. Think of Jane Eyre’s Thornfield Hall, with its whispers and forbidden rooms, or Manderley and its caretaker. There is something about sitting with these novels and reading about the oppressive atmosphere that the heroine (as it usually is a woman) is slowly submerged into.

In The Rose Master, I wanted to give a nod to all of these wonderful classics that made my childhood such an exciting and chilling experience. With Rosewood Manor, I tried to bring in all of those elements: secrets, oppressive atmosphere, isolation, and, of course, a sense of impending danger.

Although the Gothic novel has become less common than it used to be, it still has its devoted fans and you can count me firmly as one of them. It is probably my favorite genre to read and definitely my favorite genre to write. I hope that The Rose Master can bring to its readers the sense of delicious fear that a Gothic novel is supposed to create.

Double Good Reads Review: "Evertrue" and "Unraveling"

Unraveling (Unraveling, #1)Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Strange thoughts on this one

When I began reading "Unraveling" I had the vague thinking that it would be a DFN. Luckily, I understood that it was the author's way to introduce slowly the plot and kick up the plot gears very quickly.

Janelle gets hit by a truck and strangely saved by Ben, the 'outcast' of her school. From that point mysterious deaths plague San Diego and soon Janelle will have to do everything in her powers in order to save her family... and her world.

The mystery and action keeps you very, very concentreated while there's no point in which you will gasp from the relevations. Big in length it but descriptive it's narrated by Janelle's POV, and covers pretty much everything.

For me: 5 of 5 stars

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

YUP, a finalle!

With Jack on her side Nik tries to destroy Everneath. Like Hercule's labors there's the mystery and the heartbreaking ending.

While I was glad for the ending and the proof of redemption in it, I couldn't help but feel bad for Cole. From a bad, really bad guy he became good in my eyes with a tortured past and choices. But the ending was just for him.

Becks struggles with her transformation and for a moment I feared for her and Jack. It was SO wrong for them in the whole trilogy. But Brodi didn't let me down.

I hope to read more of her stories! :) For now 5 of 5 stars

"Dreams of Gods and Monsters" Good Reads review

Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3)Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 of 5 DEAR GODSTARS!

An absolutely stunning ending on a trilogy which kept us all tight on our seats, sofas and more!

Karou, Akiva, Liraz, Ziri and the rest of the gang try to form a plan in order to stop Jael from taking over arms from Earth. While there's chaos, as usual, among humans, there's a mysterious woman, Eliza, whose role later is stunningly analyzed on the story. ;)

Finally we have redemption between Akiva and Karou while my next favorite pair, after Zuzana and Mik, bacame Liraz and Ziri! I would really love a novella with these two! :)
While the ending leaves some spots wary, there is the satisfaction and above all the hope of a better future and a better world for all.

A poetry among novels and surely unforgotten!

Cara is a strong character, so is Aelyx, who despite his plan, gets to know better Cara and eventually fall in love with her. Counti in the action and the back-stabbing on school (damn cliques!) and you have a story with potential and an amazing cover!

Also notice the cover of "Invaded" where Aelyx sits and you'll get a hint about the story on book one! Have a great reading :)

Everneath (Everneath, #1)Everneath by Brodi Ashton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Absolutely 5 of 5 stars!!!

A novel about eternal love, heart breaking decisions and the message about the power to find ourselves into the darkness. That's what Brodi Ashton gives with "Everneath".

Niki had chosen the easy way to settle her feelings of reject and pain and thus she ended on a version of Underworld where she became a "battery" for Cole an immortal. Only her thoughts of Jack kept her almost alive. And after her Return back on the Surface she'll have to deal with the pain of the ones she left behind.

I liked the descriptions and the passings from past to present. Even the ending in all its teary state was beautifully written. I hope to find out more about Everneath on the second book! A great read! Don't miss it. :)

"Hover" Good Reads review

Hover (The Taking, #2)Hover by Melissa West
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yup, absolutely action packed, emotionally breaking and brain storming sequel of Melissa West's series! I had seen the cover reveal of "Collide" a while back and it intrugued me to read the series. I was right about the plot and the theme of course!
In "Hover" Ari tries to save the humans who have been mutated while Jackson becomes her number 1 person from whom she will drawn the strenght she will need to fight back Zeus. Not to mention the ENDING!!! I never, ever expecting that! And I'll only hope not to be proven wrong. :)

"Lucid" Good Reads review

Lucid (Brightest Kind of Darkness, #2)Lucid by P.T. Michelle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 of 5 stars

Again, as i have written in many reviews, which happen to have sagas, I wasn't diasspointed from "Lucid" the 2nd book of P.T. Michelle's series.
Should I write about the mystery, the nerve breaking dreams and the funny moments? Or about the (ehmm) steamy scenes of the ending? :P
Nope I would say that the author threads a well made web of plot, emotion and action. I can't wait for the third book!

"Brightest kind of darkness" Good Reads review

Brightest Kind of Darkness (Brightest Kind of Darkness, #1)Brightest Kind of Darkness by P.T. Michelle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ι was really REALLY glad when this book got finally in my hands! An original story with mystery, well detailed descriptions and with Fate in its center.

Inara has the ability to see her future ahead a day in her dreams (which is cool and crepy for me). Yet when she meets Ethan and at the same time stops a bombing at her school everything changes. She and her classmates get into accidents and Ethan becomes her protector.

Ethan also has his own demons and i hope to get more of him into the second book. Surprisingly sweet, emotion and mysterious "Brightest kind of darkness" will make you love it!

"The beautiful and the Cursed" Good Reads review

The Beautiful and the Cursed (The Dispossessed, #1)The Beautiful and the Cursed by Page Morgan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So I got to see the book appearing many times before me yet, i didn't want to read it.
How wrong i was! After a search about gargoyles, I found out many things that for a reason consist the main core of goth and historical genre.

"The beautiful and the Lost", written on third POV, speaks of Ingrid, Gabby, her sister and their trip to Paris where their mother will set a gallery. A boy named Luc, a series of murders and a group of not so normal people will thrust the girls into a world of Demons...and Angels.

I liked the desrciptions and the struggle between the heroes, yet i didn't want the story to progress on a love triangle. I hope that will not happen on the second book.

Totally recommended ----------> 5 of 5 stars

"Naturaly born Angel" Good Reads review

Natural Born Angel (Immortal City, #2)Natural Born Angel by Scott Speer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A terrible, heart breaking ending on the second book of the series! Maddy tries to live as an Angel, Jackson has to deal with the loss of his wings while new shadows threat to destroy Angel City...and humanity. Scott Speer knows how to keep you up with the story as also to cut in the bost important moments.
Yet, I was a little dissapointed with the triangle, even if for a reason it was justified and well explained.

"Phoenix" Good Reads review

Phoenix (Black City, #2)Phoenix by Elizabeth Richards
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While Ash and Natalie try to stop Rose's plot of destroying the Darklings, a secret and a new ally(?) appear on the seconf book of the series! Whule i liked the 2nd POV between the main characters, i got a little disappointed. While there was such intense emotion, it wasn't described well; it felt almost...flat.

But that doesn't drop my stars! :) I can't wait for the third and last book of the series and i hope Natalie escapes her fate.

"Sentinel" Good Reads review

Sentinel (Covenant, #5)Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 of 5 stars

Absolutely the best ending for these series!!! To be honest, i feared that Jennifer would make it heartbreaking. She really did it. So i laughed and cried. Again i laughed, cried and at the ending I made a happy dance.

So don't hesitate to read "Sentinel" the series end damn fine and you will understand the road that will open for the next series of Armentrout's concerning Seth.

Happy reading!

"Gravity" Good Reads review

Gravity (The Taking, #1)Gravity by Melissa West
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A quick paced with action filled story, where aliens and humans collide. It is well hinted how easily we can destroy our planet whithout caring about the concequences as also the people who live in it.
I liked the romance between the main characters even more the relevations.

Even more interesting is the fact that Ancients come out of tress and that their world, despite their problems is more colorful than the human one.

"Gravity" holds all the elements for a sci-fi adventure combined with the need to think about ourselves and the planet we reside on. :)

"Pushing the Limits" Good Reads review

Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1)Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emotional, with learnings about the society and the struggle on both teens until they find their place in the world, "Pushing the Limits" speaks of the relationship Echo and Noah develop from dual POV, as also their thoughts and feeling for each other.

I liked the plot, the setting and the way things worked out between the two. :)

Apollyon (Covenant, #4)Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What can i say? Even from the first pages you get so focused into the story, you forget your surroundings!
So, Alex is connected with Seth, Aiden tries to save her mind and soul while the world is ending with '2012' style! Do you want more?

Gods get involved and the book's ending is tear breaking and makes you wish to have the next on hand! :)

"Immortal City" Good Reads review

Immortal City (Immortal City, #1)Immortal City by Scott Speer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've been reading many bad reviews concerning Immortal City since the day i stumbled upon this book. Curious i found an ebook of it. Although i admit that the plot moved fast and the characters seemed not very developed i have a MAJOR pros for you:

ANGELS, LA, RED CARPET! -------> The idea of combining riches and wings is a first and the author made a great work expressing the emotions of the protagonists!!! Even the premonitons of Maddy kept me hooked on the story as also Jacks's wings!

A good, fat 5 of 5 stars from me! Of to the second book!
