Sublime by Christina Lauren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Summary from GoodReads
Love is . . . beautiful, dangerous, scary. Sublime . . .
A boy emerges. Wild, dark curls fall into his eyes. In that moment her silent heart twists beneath the empty walls of her chest. This is the first physical sensation she has had since waking under a sky full of falling leaves.
Something about the light in his eyes when he looks up makes her ache to share herself with him.
But share what? Her mind? Her body? How can she share things she doesn't know?
REVIEW
I believe that "Sublime" has the position of the most haunting read of 2014. It's a story of love, humor but most of all...loss.
Lucy awake alone into the grounds of a private school with no recolection of her past. Then she meets Colin.
Their attraction is instant but not the insta-love occasion. The plot is a mystery itself and it grips you until the moment you get the answers. While Colin tries to find out more about Lucy, she becomes more and more stronger, especially when Colin realises that the closer to death he is, the closer he gets to Lucy.
Many would think that Colin is an uncaring character, who thinks little for himself. But his own personal story is one of loneliness. Through Lucy he finds somewhere to belong and she too needs him. Although I would think her as the bad character of the story, when i reached the final pages, i was stunned.
The ending was one of those where you can clearly can say "what happened now?" but the real point was the lesson: no one can survive alone and sometimes love can win against the seperation of death.
Emotional, sensual, a must read!

EXCERPT:
Gwen is leaning against the window. Every time I leave her, I forget. She’s not all gangly limbs and huge eyes and dirty hair hanging in her face, flinching at her own shadow. Not anymore. That Gwen still haunts my island, but this—this Gwen is breathtaking.
She thinks she’s broken. Fractured pieces of a broken mind, held together by medication and stubborn denial. But she doesn’t see herself, not the way I do.
Lane had that right. She’s breathtaking—even now, when I know she’s sad and broken. She stands straight, a pair of thin sleep pants curving around her ass before falling loose and free to the floor. Her shoulders are back, graceful and strong, under the thick sweater she’s wearing, her hair pulled into a messy knot at the top of her head.
She can see me, my reflection in the dark glass. And I see the tension in her tighten, drawing her up and sharp, until she’s almost vibrating with it. “Why are you here?” she asks, her voice low and hoarse.
She sounds like that when she’s been crying. I know—I’ve heard her so many times, heard her tears. Wiped them away. Whispered happy thoughts until I teased a smile from her.
“Peter,” she snaps, and I jerk, out of the memories and into the moment.
“You ran away.”
She gives an unladylike snort. “You decided you were a delusion of my past, and then you expected me to sit there and listen to your insane ramblings. Thanks, but no. I can’t do that. I’ve had enough crazy for one life.” She bites her lip, and then blurts, “You stole my file, didn’t you? That’s how you know about the Boy.”
“Do you remember the firefly meadow?”
She goes still, and I smile, gently. “You do.”
“That wasn’t real,” she whispers, and I feel the shudder.
“We’d hide there, from the lsot boys. And you’d fall asleep telling me your happy thoughts, and wake up to a galaxy of fireflies, and we’d chase them until you made yourself sick, laughing. And then I’d hold you and we’d stare at the stars, and you always said they were different. It smelled like jasmine and honey-“
“And wild woods and freedom,” she whispers, her blue eyes impossibly wide in her pretty face. I take a tentative step toward her, and touch her fingers.
Why are your stars different?
“It wasn’t a delusion, Gwendy. You know it wasn’t. Trust yourself.”
She shudders. “Can’t. My mind lies. It wasn’t—“
“Gwendy,” I say, desperately. Her eyes are filling with tears and I can feel the disbelief, the way it will tear apart the world I’ve known, and the girl I’ve loved, and I can’t. I move without thinking, catch her head and bring her lips to mine.

It’s been a week since all hell broke loose…
Rumors of King Taron’s weakened powers have left the air court vulnerable. Kalin is desperate to awaken her akasha powers, except she doesn’t know how. Tension within the court is at an all-time high. Pressure is mounting for her to ascend to the throne, but a halfling has never ruled over any court. To solidify her position, the council has advised her to marry Sebastian—a high ranking air elemental she’s never met and her betrothed.
Will Kalin sacrifice her relationship with Rowan to strengthen her court?
Rowan and Marcus return to a fire court in turmoil. Liana’s death has fueled the fire elementals’ distrust against the air and woodland courts. The unbalanced elements have set off natural disasters all over the mortal world. Rowan takes the throne to restore balance, promising to unite the fire court. But not all elementals are happy with his leadership. Many are secretly loyal to Valac, which means Rowan needs to find allies for his cause.

Excerpt from FRAGILE REIGN
RowanAfter Marcus left, the lack of sleep and overuse of my power had finally caught up to me. My lids were heavy, making it hard to keep my eyes open. I laid down on the nearest bed, sinking into the softness of the vanilla scented pillows. I could rest here until tomorrow, and then meet Kalin on the beach at sundown. As I closed my eyes, I imagined her in that sexy sundress with the ocean breeze wafting through her red curls. My lips tingled remembering the raspberry taste of her kisses. With all this craziness going on, she was the one thing that made sense. The only person who could make me forget about everything for a little while. Kalin was the one I wanted. The only one I needed. I shook my head. What was wrong with me? It was too soon to be thinking about this stuff, right? It had only been a few weeks. And what did I know about real feelings, anyway? Had it not been for Marcus, I would never even know what it felt like to care for someone. Love was never part of my life. My mother thought love was a weakness—a totally worthless emotion compared to power and control. But that still didn’t explain how I was feeling. Why everything seemed better when Kalin was around. Why my fingers ached to touch her. Why her pain shattered me to the core. I put my hands over my face. Or, maybe the lack of sleep was making me delusional. With a smirk, I gave in to the darkness that was overwhelming me and fell asleep.

Chaos by Sarah Fine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Summary from GoodReads
With Juri in control and everything in absolute chaos, Lela plunges into the depths of hell to free Malachi from creatures that have waited decades to exact their revenge. But the Judge has her own way of doing things, and Lela must work with Ana, the new Captain, who has a very personal mission of her own. Together, they infiltrate the most horrifying realm either has yet encountered in the Shadowlands—the bitter landscape ruled by the Mazikin.
The stakes could not be higher, and Lela must accept the help—and love—of people she barely knows or trusts. As alliances and loyalties shift and she realizes the soul she came to save isn’t the only one in need of rescue, can Lela summon the strength to see the fight through to the very end?
REVIEW
With an heart pounding conclusion "Chaos" becomes one of the most action packed novels, I've read this year!
When Lela bargains again with the Jugdge, she never expects what her mission will be. Along with old, new and forgotten allies she will travel to the cruelest part of this otherworld, where Malachi suffers worse than Hell.
The emotions, the battle scenes and the messages Sarah Fine passes through her witting are worth to be remembered.
An excellent read!
Don't miss the giveaway of the first book of the trilogy!

Review: Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Summary from GoodReads
Every touch has its price
Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.
But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…
REVIEW
I have been expecting the sequel all summer and i was really glad for the chance to have a copy! ;)
Stone Cold Touch" takes place two weeks after Roth's fall into the pit with Layla worrying over him and tension into the Warden clan. When Layla finds herself into a really difficult situation along with Zayne, then the real problem begins.
Roth returns but things are really strange between Layla and him. And with Zayne's growing feelings for her, everything blows apart.
Into a plot where witty dialogues, funny scenes and really charged emotional, and steamy, scenes Jennifer Armentrout delivers a thrilling story, where good and wrong sometimes aren't easy to tell apart.
As one of Team Roth, i believe that the ending of the second book, is a good point to see who will Layla choose. While I din't expect the 'bad guy' to appear like this, i was really moved by Roth's words. While I also like Zayne, i found that he was really late to express his feelings and in some reasons, at the second half of the book, he was acting more like a teenager rather than the man he is.
Overall, and in a few words, i can't wait for 2015!!!

Release Day+Giveaway: "Love in Spanish" by Karina Halle
Tuesday, November 11, 2014
“She sat beside me on the bus – and
she changed my whole life.”
Successful, wealthy and absurdly
handsome – Spanish ex-football player Mateo Casalles seemed like he had it all.
A high-society wife, an adorable little girl, and flashy apartments in Madrid
and Barcelona only sweetened the deal. But there was more to Mateo than met the
eye – a life of uncertainty and regret that colored his black and white world.
That was until Vera Miles came into
his life like a shooting star. Tattooed, wild and young, Vera seemed like
Mateo’s polar opposite at first. But you can’t choose who you fall in love with
and the two lost souls did everything they could to be together, all while
suffering the grave consequences.
Now with Mateo divorced and living in
Madrid with Vera, there is a whole new set of challenges and setbacks facing
the couple and rocking the foundation of their star-crossed relationship.
Unfortunately for them, the brighter
the star, the faster they burn.
He speaks Spanish. I speak English.
He lives in Spain. I live in Canada.
He dresses in thousand-dollar suits. I’m covered in tattoos.
He’s married and has a five-year old daughter.
I’m single and can’t commit to anyone or anything.
Until now. Because when they say you can’t choose who you fall in love with, boy ain’t that the f*#king truth.
***
To a restless dreamer like Vera Miles, it sounded like the experience of a lifetime. Instead of spending her summer interning for her astronomy major, she would fly to Spain where she’d spend a few weeks teaching conversational English to businessmen and women, all while enjoying free room and board at an isolated resort. But while Vera expected to get a tan, meet new people and stuff herself with wine and paella, she never expected to fall in love.
Mateo Casalles is unlike anyone Vera has ever known, let alone anyone she’s usually attracted to. While Vera is a pierced and tatted free spirit with a love for music and freedom, Mateo is a successful businessman from Madrid, all sharp suits and cocky Latino charm. Yet, as the weeks go on, the two grow increasingly close and their relationship changes from purely platonic to something…more.
Something that makes Vera feel alive for the first time.
Something that can never, ever be.
Or so she thinks
With her USA Today Bestselling The Artists Trilogy published by Grand Central Publishing, numerous foreign publication deals, and self-publishing success with her Experiment in Terror series, Vancouver-born Karina Halle is a true example of the term "Hybrid Author." Though her books showcase her love of all things dark, sexy and edgy, she's a closet romantic at heart and strives to give her characters a HEA...whenever possible.Karina holds a screenwriting degree from Vancouver Film School and a Bachelor of Journalism from TRU. appeared in publications such as Consequence of Sound, Mxdwn and GoNomad Travel Guides. She currently lives on an island on the coast of British Columbia where she’s preparing for the zombie apocalypse with her fiancé and rescue pup.

Review+Giveaway: Fractured (Guards of the Shadowlands, #2) by Sarah Fine

Fractured by Sarah Fine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sumarry from GoodReads
In the week since Lela returned to Rhode Island as Captain of the Guard with Malachi as her second in command, local news has been dominated by chilling sightings of human-like creatures running on all fours. Lela knows there’s only one explanation: the Mazikin have arrived in the land of the living.
Needing to maintain the appearance of a normal life for her foster mother, her probation officer, and her classmates, Lela returns to Warwick High along with Malachi. At night they secretly hunt for the Mazikin nest. To assist, two new Guards from very different parts of the Shadowlands are assigned to Lela’s unit, including the bad boy Jim, who repeatedly challenges Lela's authority. Lela struggles to keep all her Guards on the right side of the law, but their mistakes come at a terrible cost.
As one painful revelation follows another and the Mazikin start targeting those closest to her, Lela finds herself more vulnerable than she’s ever been, wanting a future more than she ever has. With an enemy determined to separate soul from body, one question remains: how much is she willing to sacrifice to protect those she loves?
REVIEW
A strong sequel to a series which made most readers grip the book as if it had life! Lela and Malachi will have more to focus and fight for except from their feelings for each other. The Mazikin have plans and even Lela's classmates are not safe anymore.
The novel in an extend is packed with action and strong scenes. Lela is a fighting character, I like that on her, but Malachi also doesn't luck emotions. We are too used on fiction guys who are hot and HOT but we don't usually see the depth of their emotions. Malachi is one of them and despite the mistakes he makes in the book, he finally tries to rendeem for them.
It is obvious that there is bigger picture on the story and only a part of it clears at the ending. The ending is teary and more tearing than the first book! (cries).
But only Lela will be able to solve this mystery. How? Let me read the next book "Chaos" and we'll know!
You can also read my review on "Sanctum" if you are reading this post for the first time.
So what do you like on a strong YA character? And who in particular do you prefer?

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Summary from GoodReads
There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.
Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.
The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.
Friends can betray.
Mothers can disappear.
Visions can mislead.
Certainties can unravel
REVIEW
Squash one, squash two...
The upper quote says it all! The third book of the series literally made me want to hear the murder song!
This review will not be very open to the plot since by doing so, i will destroy your anticipation. The lpot goes slow in this one BUT the relationships between all the characters become smoother, creating an air of understanding especially between Ronam and Adam. Blue and Gansey have more scenes, i can tell you that, but there's again this tightening on the chest when you read about those two. I have never met so troubled pair in all the YA I've read so far!
Also Gray Man has a good role since there are also new bad guys, as also a new quite crazy one I would tell. ;)
Overall, Maggie creates yet another amazing sequel with an ending that leaves you groaning from frustration since you'll want the next book quickly! 2015 is really far from now.

EXCERPT:
Glancing up, I suck my breath in when I find dark eyes connected to mine, eyes so dark they’re almost black, and the energy in them is enough to freeze me in place. A boy is attached to the dark gaze. A man. He’s probably no more than twenty or twenty-one, but everything about him screams man. There’s no boy in him. That part of him is very clearly gone. I see it in his eyes, in the way he holds himself, in the perceptive way he takes in his surroundings, then stares at me with singular focus, like we’re somehow connected by a tether.
He’s got a million contradictions in his eyes….aloofness, warmth, mystery, charm, and something else I can’t define. He’s muscular, tall, and wearing a tattered black sweatshirt that says Irony is lost on you in orange letters. His dark jeans are belted with black leather, and a silver band encircles his middle finger. Dark hair tumbles into his face and a hand with long fingers impatiently brushes it back, all the while his eyes are still connected with mine.
His jaw is strong and masculine, with the barest hint of stubble. His gaze is still connected to mine, like a livewire, or a lightning bolt. I can feel the charge of it racing along my skin, like a million tiny fingers, flushing my cheeks. My lungs flutter and I swallow hard. And then, he smiles at me. At me. Because I don’t know him and he doesn’t know better.
Book Trailer:
NOCTE Synopsis: SAVE ME AND I'LL SAVE YOU....
My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole. My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn-- is crazy. I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me. I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline. Dare DuBray. He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me. He has the power to destroy me.
Maybe that’s ok.
Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt.
Why? Because of a secret.
A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming.
You won’t either.
ABOUT COURTNEY COLE: Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people. Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.
