The War of Two Queens by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

From the desperation of golden crowns…

Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

And born of mortal flesh…

Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way—because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.

A great primal power rises…

Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear—to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be—what she fears the most.

As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
One of my most anticipated reads is finally out! I can not express my love for anything Jennifer Armentrout and this new book, the sequel to her fantasy series is everything I enjoyed! Angst and romance, action and humor all packed together. Poppy needs to defeat the Blood Queen but also save Cas, and among others learn the secret behind her powers and how it is tied to a prophecy that may destroy the realms.

Like no biggie?
Right?
Right.

I loved the plot and the dual POV that interject in between. While we do follow Poppy we also follow Cas through his own POV. I enjoyed both and I loved how it completed some missing pieces of how each character looked upon the events.
There were some revelations I did not expect to learn and left me gapping but also (for those who read the first book in the prequel series), some very lovely surprises. We have draken, shapeshifting wolves, sleeping gods and Primals, and magic that goes back to the beginning of time.

This series does not disappoint and with each book, it becomes even more amazing!
