November Reads: ARCs, Holiday feels and more!

Hello my dear readers! It seems that the second time of quarantine can either lift you up or pull you down. I love this small side of the blogsphere where we can all feel safe and loved for our bookish reads! And you may have noticed that my reviews have become more gathered in batches as working from home and also having home work to do (you have no idea how cooking and cleaning can do that to a person), my reviews are now more gathered in one post.

Thankfully, I had the luck to read some amazing books and ARCs and I am glad to share them with you!

(how I'll feel going out at some point in the future...I hope)

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Holy wow! What can I say about the action and the amazing story! Even weeks after devouring this book I still want to immerse myself in this amazing world Jeaniene Frost made! I loved her mythological references, especially the greek ones, how Ian and Veritas were glorious together both as a couple and in the cases they went on murdering their enemies mode :P

I would like to see another series too, featuring Marie and Assael this time. I think there is a backstory here and that demon is also a very interesting character!

I couldn't have read a better ending to this series! And you are all in for many surprises when this is released! ;)

And if you haven't read the series yet please do!

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

The final book of this new series claims your heart and gives you the thrills I have been missing in my reading lately. It's only personal and has nothing to do with this book as Sara Wolf managed to keep my attention from start to finish!
There are so many turns and secrets and magic that kept me rooted on spot hoping and dreading to see what would happen!

Great ending to the series! Totally recommended!

Forever Wild by K.A. Tucker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

From the international bestselling author of The Simple Wild comes Forever Wild, a novella that continues the story of Calla’s journey to the Alaskan wild and a life she never imagined for herself.

The holiday season is upon Calla and Jonah, and with the mistletoe and gingerbread comes plenty of family drama. Jonah is bracing himself for two weeks with a stepfather he loathes, and while Calla is looking forward to her mother and Simon’s arrival, she dreads the continued pressure to set a date for their wedding … in Toronto. Add in one bullheaded neighbor’s unintentional meddling and another cantankerous neighbor’s own family strife, and Christmas in Trapper’s Crossing will be anything but simple.

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Calla and Jonah! I was so happy when I heard about this lovely novella set in Christmas too in Alaska! Packed with feels and the holidays feeling I loved every bit as I read it in one go!
I do have to admit that apart from the family drama and the humorous and emotional moments, I was totally jealous of the way Calla's and Jonah's house was described! I want a home like that!

If you haven't read the first 2 books what are you waiting for?

REVIEW

Set in Sicilian background with an amazing description of foods that made my mouth water, along with demons and magic, the new series of Kerri Maniscalco sets the pace for new characters that have to overcome even more obstacles, are morally grey in some cases and the tragedy looms over their heads.

I was surprised by Emilia's determination, even if in some cases I wanted her to stop taking so many risks. Though to be honest the whole plot was so surprising and the secrets many as also the danger which made me fear for her on every page!

Even Wrath had his own agenda and he at least tried to a point to protect her. I have no idea how the next book will go as the ending was a cliffhanger of sorts.
But that doesn't mean that the book was glorious and I was so happy to read something new and unique!

Totally recommended!

Generation One by Elizabeth Stephens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summary from GoodReads

An Alien Invasion SciFi Romance

Abel should have let me die. Jack should have killed me.

Abel had no business resurrecting my corpse. Now I'm tormented by ghosts of monsters, including the one I've become, as I trudge through the hellscape that is Population. Only this time, I'm part of Abel's band of misfits trying to rebuild civilization.

Among the cheery idiots are alien allies and humans too stupid to live. None are so grating as Pia. Pretty and kind and gentle, she might be the worst among them.

But it doesn't change the fact that she's the reason I'm still here and that when my old gang catches up to me, they'll torture her to make me bleed.

Luckily, I'm a monster who won't let that happen. Even if I'm too torn up to touch her, I'm going to keep her alive.

Generation One is book 3 in the action-packed Population series! A full-length (85k word) interracial, post-apocalyptic, slow burn SciFi romance with an HEA, this book can be read as a standalone, but will be better appreciated after reading Population and Saltlands.

Be warned! This is a violent book with lots of battle scenes. There is NO noncon, dubcon, cheating, harem, menage or love triangles. Only savage men who worship their warrior women.

REVIEW

I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This review contains SPOILERS of the previous two books. Read at your own caution.

Generation one picks from the first duology where this harsh world invaded by aliens filled with action and lots of violence makes humanity strive for survival. There is violence and the characters strive to fight against the aliens, even having said aliens on their side.

I enjoyed the small moments and how all characters were grounded and didn't rush into stupid decisions like some other characters I have seen done in other books.

The series has taken an interesting turn and I want to see where this will go, as it covers more couples and characters. It also deals with PTSD, trauma, and mental health so I strongly advise you to proceed with caution if you are interested.

Recommended for the unique set, the strive for survival, and the romance!

And don't miss the first 2 books of the series
