There's no hard fan of Jennifer Armentrout who didn't scream when this surprise release was finally announced! To be honest, I had read this book back in January and boy, was I so enthusiastic about it...but I couldn't talk about it!
Jennifer makes a dive to Adult Paranormal in this new baby where gods are alive, secrets and blood threaten all and a young woman may be the key to solve everything...or destroy it all.
I enjoyed reading about Poppy. She is a young woman tasked with the role of "Maiden" a pure woman who will bring salvation and save her kingdom from the so-called craven, zombie-like creatures and their masters the Descenders. Trained to fight, but also abused, she tries to navigate the politics of the court, her peculiar position and also her growing feelings for Hawke, her new guard.
Now I may not be able to tell more since I'll thread to spoiler-land but I was very excited to read something from Jennifer that was both in the Adult spectre and brought back a paranormal creature that I didn't expect Jennifer to write about! So this was a great surprise!
As for Hawke? Well, some of my friends already think that he has dethroned other amazing male characters of Jennifer's like Daemon, Aiden, Seth and Roth, but for me, he might need some grovelling to do in the next book!
Read this amazing book! You won't be disappointed!
